Just keep in mind there is NO EXIT RAMP from 836 (for trasffic coming from the north) onto 17th and the exit ramp at 933 (13th at the hospitals) is one lane turning south. You'd have traffic backed up for miles.

PBC fans are not true fans of a team if they will not be willing to make trips out there. Granted maybe not as frequently anymroe, but to say that they will no longer be fans because they didn't get atadium built near them is TOTAL BS. You act as if the team had so mant other options and they CHOSE intentionally to build it far away from those fans. Listen, I had to move to Minnesota for a job because it's what was bet for me and I still love this team. I already have plans to catch road games at Milwakee, Chicago, and Detroit this year. I even have tickets for a few games at PPS when I do coem down to visit my Fiance and family. As always you raise some valid points. As someone who lives in Coral Springs I will not be going to many weeknight games - however I would hope that the area can be re-developed (restaurants, bars, etc) - similar to a Fenway or Wrigley area where one can arrive early and enjoy a meal or drink prior to gametime.

 

I have some faith that the parking issue will be resolved as part of the master plan. I also like the involvement of UM - I have confidence in them providing a good amount of insight as well.

I will probably attend more than 20 weekday games this year (Mon-Fri). Once the stadium is located at the OB site it will become impossible for me to get there before the first pitch during weekdays. So likely the only weekday game I will attend will be opening day...as I will take a vacation day.

 

I also plan to attend around 20 weekend games this year, and that will also drop with the OB site.

 

So to Marlins2003's point, attendance from the north will drop off substantially.

 

If this is the only way for the team to get a stadium deal through, then I will support it. But the fact remains I will be cheering them on from my living room much more often than from the stadium.

I find that quite funny actually. Laugh all you want, I WISH I lived in PBC and could keep my job, I would move in a heart beat and renew my season tickets. I don't care if I have to drive an hour to go to games. Do I wish I lived close to the stadium? Yes, of course. But I love this team, and I would be willing to drive anywhere to watch games. If it's too far for me to go everyday then I will at least try to catch 1 or 2 a week. Eitehr way I do not turn my back on the team. '

 

It's funny, I remember last season furing the post season I was watching the local news in Miami and some guy had been waiting out in front of PPS to get tickets for the WS, he had spent alot of hours waiting and then was told that the game sold out and he could not get tickets. They interviewed him and he was upset clearly and his words I will never forget, "I waited out here for 10 hours to get tickets and then I was told it was sold out, I am never coming here again" I guess that tells you what kind of Fans this team has. I was so upset when I heard that.

What about those who live in SW,SE (Kendall and Homestead) Miami-Dade and feel same way about the Pro?I bet there quite a few who will be attending more games.I live in North West Miami dade which will be more difficult for me but You don't see me complaining.Hopefully they will include something to improve the ways to get to OB and I'm hoping for Metro rail to expand to little Havana.

I lived (my family is still there) in SW/SE Dade area (Cutler Ridge). There are a lot of people in this area that could go to more games if the stadium was brought closer.

 

For us to go to JRS it took us about 30-45 minutes, if we made good time, one way. We went to our share of games, but had the stadium been closer, we would have bought season tix. You can shave significant time off that trek if located at OB which means more people from the south showing up to possibly replace those being lost from the north.

 

There is a concern though - US1. For those located SE of US1, traffic is still very much an uphill battle. Just the nature of the beast. The possible OB local may be more centralized for Miamians, but those in SE Dade might still have quite a journey ahead of them (no matter where it is located).

There is a fantastic demographic area which will now be much closer to the stadium. Pinecrest and Coral Gables. If you want to take your family to a weekday game at 7 pm at jrs and you live in those neighborhoods it is a nightmare. i know of many people that are disnfranchised by the Palmetto Expressway and would attend more games at the Orange Bowl. This is definitely a key demographic area for the Marlins. $$$$$$

 

Palm beach and Broward fans will be lost but fans will be added from other areas. i have been going to UM games and Dolphin games at the Orange bowl for years and I can tell you that if you know the "back routes" you can get to the Orange bowl from downtown miami in about 15 minutes on a weekday evening. Then if you throw in a possible metrorail extension downtown miami is another tremendous target market.

 

Look, that sight has huge issues, but if it can give the Fish more money to spend on players we should all find a way to support it (attend games).

1. How is that river in the map? Is it a nice river, or a nasty, dirty one that is contaminated by industry/city area/etc.?

 

2. If the river is a nice river, is there any chance to the stadium right by the river for a nice view on TV?

 

I've been to a couple games in the OB, but I've never seen the river. I'm curious about how the river is. The whole area I've seen around the OB is crap, so I'm hoping the river area might be a nicer area.
