My prediction: Beckett throws a perfect six innings and Conine hits for the cycle before a stupid Braves fan who brought his kerosene-powered radio (fun fact: batteries don't exist in the deep south) sets the Turner Field box seats on fire. Despite those seats being only half-full the game is called. Oh, and OMGNunez rescues 22 babies, 6 pregnant women and a kitchen sink but is only credited with the Hold.

New prediction: Why the heck are we playing a 3-game home stand then flying out for a West coast swing? Why not just schedule a series against St. Louis or Milwaukee. Anyways, Beckett throws nine perfect innings and Conine hits for two cycles. OMGNunez saves a fan from choking on a pretzel. Oh yeah, the game is sold out and after winning we all dance to the Smiths.

if i'm not wrong, so correct me if i am, but those stats are against the pitcher they are facing that day.

correct

for some reason the pitcher's number arent updated yet Yeah, but tonight's pitching matchup is SO not Darren Oliver vs. Brett Myers.

And rferry, you're predicition is so highly illogical...we're at home, silly. :)

Yahoo! Sports Preview http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/preview?gid=240423128

Russ Ortiz outpitched Josh Beckett last weekend to help the Atlanta Braves to a three-game sweep of the Florida Marlins.

He'll try to do it again when the teams open a three-game set at Pro Player Stadium.

Ortiz, who won 21 games last season, was impressive against the Marlins last Saturday. The 29-year-old right-hander allowed one run and six hits over 6 2-3 innings in a 4-1 win.

``Every game I feel like I'm going to pitch like that,'' Ortiz said. ``The key is to take what I do in the bullpen out to the mound and not to do anything extra. I feel my stuff is good enough. I don't need to do anything extra.''

He also did not walk a batter for the first time in 26 starts since last May 18. ``It makes it easier for me to throw when you are ahead of batters,'' he said.

While Ortiz was pleased with the way he pitched, Beckett had the worst of his three starts this season. Last season's World Series MVP allowed four runs and eight hits over 6 1-3 innings, with his ERA rising from 0.64 to 2.21 in the process.

``We lost, and I was the reason,'' Beckett said. ``I couldn't make good pitches when I needed to, and when I did, they hit them.''

The Marlins will now look to Beckett as they try to win their fourth straight. After getting swept in Atlanta last weekend, the defending World Series champions went to Philadelphia and took three straight from the Phillies.

Mike Lowell and Mike Redmond both homered to lead Florida to a 9-7 victory Thursday. Lowell also homered three times Wednesday in the Marlins' 8-7, 12-inning win -- becoming the first player in team history to hit three home runs in one game.

After sweeping the Marlins, the Braves dropped two of three against the Cincinnati Reds.

Johnny Estrada had a two-run double Thursday, and Adam LaRoche doubled home another. However, the game was called due to rain after five innings with the Reds leading 5-3.

``You hate to lose in 4 1/2 innings when you're only down two runs, but it was just raining too hard to continue to play,'' Atlanta manager Bobby Cox said.
