But if we don't wipe the floor with Colorado and San Fran, I will be very disappointed.

Yea that's what I said last year when we went into that west coast series. The Marlins proceeded to get their ass spanked on the west coast pretty bad. I am really hoping this year is diffrent but I am not going to set my expectations high for this roadtrip. Neither should you , historically we never play well on the west coast.

I'll be happy coming home with a 4-3 record, and not too disapointed with a 3-4 record.

If we take 4 of the 7, I'll be more than satisfied with the trip.

I think sweep is Colorado is more than possible, San Fran will be a bit tougher.

Does Beckett go against San Fran? If so, I think we can take 5 out of 7. 4-3 is more likely, and we do have a tendency to play terrible on the 'west coast' but I think we will fare much better. Our bats could be jump started in Colorado and I think Oliver is going to get a turn pitching there. So we have a pretty good shot of escaping Colorado with 2 wins...maybe 3. Now that I think about it, Becks is going to be pitching in Colorado...which is good because he is a strikeout pitcher.

We need to get back some wins, but considering we went 1/3 against the Braves, that is much better. Other than last night's game, the Lucky Braves were beatable. It came down to one hit last night.

It always comes down to 1 hit I mean there is always that 1 hit that puts the team ahead. I think we would have lost that game regardless because of the way our bats were. When the Marlins are cold at the plate we don't win, simple as that. Even with Pierre getting 4 hits we couldn't score.

Nope, Game 3 in Coors.

to be honest I wouldn't be surprise if we come back 3-4 in this road trip, and even 2-5 is a possibility. I hope I'm proven wrong, but this team never performs in the West. The key would be to come back still leading the division, or a game away.

I'm very happy that we are getting this over early in the season. Don't even dream with a sweep a Coors, and don't be surprised if we get sweeped and win two at SF.

Does Beckett go against San Fran?

Nope, Game 3 in Coors. So we will have Penny, Willis, Pavano and Oliver vs. BB and Co.?

Anyone know who will be pitching for SF?

Hopefully we can take advantage of Jason Schmidt not being 100% as of yet.

I don't know what it is but the west coast is the devil for the Marlins. I will be happy with anything over .500

Jonny, the problem is that we were the hottest team in the mayors last year and went 1-5 or 1-6 on the same West trip. We shall see, I hope you are right and we come back 4-3 or 5-2.

With our history concerning this trip, I would be glad just to come out healthy and not to have any other NL East team go on a hot streak. I want to win them all, but we've had our problems out there.

One of the keys to the Wild Card race last year was that while the Fish went 1-8 on the Colo.-S.F.-Pitt. trip. The Phillies were going 1-9 on a Mil.-St.L-Mont. trip. We actually gained a half a game on a 1-8 road trip.

You guys are so freaking negative. Haven't you learned that numbers don't mean crap? You guys were probably freakin' out when we were down 3-1 and had to face Prior and Wood because they had never lost back to back.

The fact is, our current team has no record Vs The Rockies and Giants in Colorado and San Francisco. I have no idea how they'll play but I know they'll try to win.

No, actually I stayed positive in that situation. On the ESPN boards, starting with game 5, I would type the number of outs(in the lower left hand corner) that were needed for the Fish to win the NLCS. I started with 81 and ended it with 0.

For whatever reason...I had faith. I did state to the other posters that if we did lose, we had nothing to be ashamed of. It was a good run and we could take pride in that.

Sure you can have faith in that situation, but to say you weren't freaking out in that situation is a little strange. I mean down 3-1 with Prior and Wood coming up?

I know the Fish have struggled on their west coast trip, but I am going to have high hopes for this year, so hopefully we can take atleast 5 of 7.

remember one thing ... Last year we did horrible on our first west coast trip, but if im not mistaken that was when McKeon first took over and we were in the transition process, we were still not playing good ball.

It should be different this time, but we always have a lot of trouble against the Rockies.

I wouldn't be amazed if we go 5-2

I love my sports, but it's not (Imo) a "life or death" situation. Through the years, I've seen too many great teams lose, that had no reason to lose. Instead of "freaking out", I let them actually play the game... because, after the game is over, there might not be anything to freak out about. And there wasn't. Prior or Wood weren't undefeated last year, believe it or not they're human. They can make mistakes. They still had to get 27 outs per game.

So freaking out??? No, at that time,(game 5 NLCS) I was very proud of what the Fish had done. They were left for dead last May, and here they were, one of 4 teams left in the playoffs. Do you realize how many fans never get to that position in their lifetimes? How many teams would have traded positions with the Fish even though they were down 3-1. I definitely wanted to win and yes I would have been disappointed if we had lost. But I still would have been proud of what they accomplished. They never seemed to give up all season, which is probably why they ended up:
