How the stadium would be situated

Recommended Posts

I got a glimpse of the stadium plans, and I just wanted to relay how it will be situated because I was confused before I saw it, so I thought others might be as well. Home plate would be located by the corner of NW 17 Ave & 4th Street and the center field would be toward 15 Ave & 2nd Street, meaning the first base line would be along 17th Avenue and the third base line along 4th Street. The footprint would take up about 3 square blocks and the southwest corner of the OB site, which is a parking lot. The parking garage would be built on the northwest side of the OB.

So the stadium would be looking towards the SE? I thought stadiums generally faced N to NE.

The view of downtown would be directly E....or beyond left field? It doesn't seem like it would be visible with the left field seats in the way.

Also, on NBC6 they showed all of the acquired land north of 3rd st......

So there is conflicting information out there right now.

I recorded the the ballpark overhead sketch from channel 10. I put it on pause and it seems to me if you sit anywhere from home to right field you will be able to see any building from bayside to brickell. That is just about all downtown. The left field seats will have a good view of the buildings a little north of the Miami river and brickel. So it seems to me that it will have a good view of downtown. But that is just from the overhead. my concern is more for the people on left field. I am not sure how much the southern wall of the OB will block the view of the buildings a little north of the Miami River. At the very least I think from whereever one sits they will have a great view of brickell.

They need to come up with viable transportation alternatives if they want people to come from Broward and Palm Beach Counties.

I haven't hear one itty bitty word on that aspect yet.

Park and Rides from Tri-Rail/MetroRail and sites around OB area that have garages. Shuttle buses in other words is the likely solution.
