May 5, 200422 yr i know it is early in the season and stuff but where the hell is lenny? i have seen him only like twice this year and mordi has played like 5 times and easley is playing like everyday. what's up with that? lenny needs his time. this is his last year you know....gotta show him some love jack.
May 5, 200422 yr I figured he'd be the first bat off the bench this year in pinch-hitting situations, but now I'm not so sure. I believe he's only 0-7 this year. He's not a guy that's going to play in the field, and they're rarely using him to pinch-hit. Unless he's on to be a coach-type to teach the art of pinch-hitting, I really don't see what keeping him on is accomplishing.
May 5, 200422 yr what a waste of f***ing space. Use his spot for another bullpen slot for testing. I agree lenny is the man though
May 5, 200422 yr Yeah I agree, Lenny is wasting a roster spot. I think they should bring up Howard to help the pen or maybe even bring up Wilson Valdez if Alex continues to struggle.
May 6, 200422 yr Valdez can still serve as a pinch-runner and be a defensive relplacement. Valdez can do much more than Harris. He'll be called up after the All Star break....if not sooner :thumbup
May 6, 200422 yr I say bring up another reliever. We're short in that department, and Harris hasn't been useful at all.

He'll be called up after the All Star break....if not sooner :thumbup for what? so he can waste himself in the bench? ... better to leave him so he can play everyday in AAA
May 6, 200422 yr I think his roster spot would be better suited with some bullpen help, but question is who do you bring up

No point in him staying in AAA to get playing time if he's never going to an impact player. He's got skills we are sorely lacking off the bench THIS YEAR.
May 6, 200422 yr hopefully sooner than later jack has to sit with lenny and tell his look your time is up i need to use your spot to bring up either another bat or arm..dont lower yourself by going down to AAA to to play and take up some young guys playing time...retire and we'll hire you you as a coach because you do have alot of hitting knowledge....thats what i think should happen but hey i dont have a say on it..

So a good option would be to look to trade Easley for BP help, and then let Valdez relieve Alex and Luis. As far as never replacing Alex....time will tell.

May 6, 200422 yr If I remember correctly, isn't there some sort of clause in Lenny's contract which states that the Marlins have a 45-day trial period which started on opening day in which the team has the option to send him to AAA, but once that 45 day period is up they cannot send him down to the minors until his contract is up? If that's true and if the Fish don't send him down within the next two weeks or so, he is stuck on the roster until the end of the season.
May 6, 200422 yr Its early fellas, Lenny is still one of the best Pinch Hitters in baseball. He'll shake his slump. Lenny may be 0-7 but hell, Jeter went o-28 and hes coming out of it. Baseballs a touch and go game, no one can deliver every time.

As far as never replacing Alex....time will tell. and what would you get for Easley? ... hmmm maybe packet of mustard ... maybe if we are lucky ... and bringing up Valdez would give us 3 infielders in Mordi, Easley and Valdez. There is no point to it, its either a bullpen arm or stick to Lenny and I'll stick to lenny cuz he tha man
May 6, 200422 yr I don't know how much gas is left in Lenny's engine. He's been in a slump for at least a season. The Cubbies released him last year because he was wasting a roster spot, I see the same thing happening here too. If he's supposed to be our ace in the hole pinch hitter, why isn't he being used? I think its because he can't deliver anymore.
May 6, 200422 yr He's not being used because Cordero/Choi, Nunez, Easley and Redmond/Castro are better hitters. And the jury is still out on Mordi.
