Can the real Miguel Cabrera stand UP!

Featured Replies

Frustrated yet? this game can humble you in hurry.

I stand by what I said on Sunday, a clutch hitter is need just as much if not more than relief pitcher.

Also why isn't Abe Nunez in the line-up tonight? Doesn't the skip always leave his sub in for two games in row. I'll stand by what I've said Abe is a much better RF than Miggy. The question now is Miggy a better LF than Niner?

I dont think anyone is arguing the point that Abe is a better fielder than Cabs

well Ed when your premier players are so young sometimes the good comes with the bad.

McKeon seems to be mixing and matching much more this season. I hope this is only until he gets a feel for what each player can contribute and that he'll keep a steady lineup like the second half of last ytear.

I total agree, but I feel there vets. ala Niner, Easley, and Will aren't helping(not just hitting). Also I feel one young hitter in Nunez should be starting more

the only one who im a little surprised about is Cordero. he is getting way more PT than i expected and has produced below his career track record.

Actually it's "Will" the real Miguel Cabrera stand up.

I think his frustration in RF is affecting his bat.

agree Marlins2003, this why I feel Nunez should replace Miggy in RF. His defense is better than Niner and Miggy. The bat well...atleast his seeing the ball well by the number of walks his taking. I just feel though its not going to happen a. because of his attitude and b. he get distract very easliy from what his doing in the game ie baserunning and knowing the pitch count.

If I remember correctly Easley did cost us the game on Tuesday...didn't he? The team as whole seem dead, no life :confused

I think we better stop over analyzing every small detail, sip some nice soft drinks or water (pending your diet) and realize what happens to the Marlins when they play the West.

Exactly. Miggy is only 21, and he's going through a slump right now. I think it's easier for a vet to get out of a slump than a youngster. The only way he's going to get out of the slump and get his confidence back is by playing.

I understand that's why the little things are costing us ball games. I'm also of the thinking his defensive problems in RF have affected him at the plate. today he swing at a pitch in the dirt that would have been ball 4 with bases loaded with Lowell coming up to bat. His pressing and it shows

Well I hate to see it but it pains me to see Cabs in Right Field. He moves so slowly. I dont know if he is trying to be careful, but it never seems like he is running fast or trying that hard to get the ball. He seems very very uncomfortable. If anything I think he and Conine should switch up.

Also I understand its very early, but I could go down the line in almost all but 2-3 loss where one mistake here and there have cost us the game. Its been mostly defensive errors or not making that key out to end a rally.Last year it was the other way around...well see but we have to start with the little things to get back to those old ways of winning.

Ed,

Putting together two of your themes (trade with Red Sox) and moving Cabrera to LF how about...

When the Trot Nixon and AJ Burnett return from DL:

Trot Nixon, Mark Bellhorn and Alan Embree (I doubt Williamson is available)

for

Carl Pavano, Wil Cordero and Damion Easley

The Marlins would then have an OF of Cabrera, Pierre and Nixon who would provide a solid LH hitter added to the lineup. Jeff Conine would slip to Cordero's slot platooning in the OF and with Choi at 1B. If AJ returns and is able to throw the ball well....it makes sense for us. As for the Sox, acquiring Pavano allows them to move one of their starters such as Kim to the pen. Cordero would fit in nicely with the Sox in a similar role he fills with the Marlins. Easley may start at 2B for them over Pokey Reese. Thoughts?

thats horrible

and a fantasy

I agree and was thinking the same thing on the way home from the game tonight. The day off didn't do him a bit of good. He let that early ball drop in front of him, once again not running hard to get it. And then was useless at the plate after that.

I keep reminding myself he is only 21, and will come around.

This is a time when we really miss Ozzie Guillen, as he could relate with all the latin players and help them through these slumps.

Did they ever figure out who put the bubble gum on Cabrera's cap? :mischief

No. They said the main culprit is Castro though, lol... when he was playing the feild today i notcied that he still had that peice of gum stuck on his cap :lol :lol :lol

LOL Mays! I was looking to see if he got it all off too but I didn't get a good view of his cap. :(

I think as soon as Miguel breaks out of his slump he will help the team more than he hurts it, but if he continues to slump I dont see why he shouldnt get some days off.

I dont know why Conine hasnt gotten any playing time at 1B. Last night they could have put Nunez in the OF and moved Conine to first instead of giving Cordero another day. Nunez is obviously swinging the bat better than Cordero so give him more playing time.
