May 9, 200422 yr Marlins get: John Riedling, Jason Kendall Reds get: Ramon Castro, Abraham Nunez, Brian Meadows, Josh Fogg Pirates get: Javier Valentin, Franklyn Gracesqui, Darren Oliver, Cory Lidle, Tommy Phelps, Wily Mo Pena !!! EDIT: BEFORE ANYONE SAYS ANYTHING, I KNOW IT'LL NEVER HAPPEN
May 9, 200422 yr Author we give up nothing and get 2 big pieces? hahahaha We gave up Nunez, Castro, Oliver, Gracesqui, and Phelps! Throw some other guys in there if you want. THe only reason it's perfect is because the Marlins get what they need. ^_^
May 9, 200422 yr I don't see it very good for us to trade Nunez, Conine is there now but he is getting old. Nunez will be good for years to come. If he didn't make the big team this year nobody would be saying anything about trading him. Not all rookies are going to come up and have the effect that Dontrelle and Cabrera had last year. Frankly we where spoiled last year with rookies.

But Nunez wants playing time and he's not gonna get it while Conine is here.
May 9, 200422 yr thats true, but giving up a great prospect like Nunez to get an 8 million dollar catcher who has only 4 extra base hits, and whose defense is questionable is alot. My dad is a pirate fan and when we watch baseball we watch the Pirates. Trust me Kendall would not be what everyone wants. Yeah he plays hard nosed which is good, but that isn't everything...He reminds me of another player...help me here I can't remember his name. We got him from SD when we got Clement and sent Kotsay over. He was all hard nose, but little else. Nobody seemed to like him. I would mark this up to be careful what you wish for because you might just get it
May 9, 200422 yr Nunez isn't a prospect. He's 27, and no team in the league likes acquiring such an unaccomplished at that age. I think we could get Kendall for Castro and a good prospect. The Pirates have some good pitching prospects so I'd imagine they'd ask for Stokes, who is blocked at first and is twice or three times removed being the heir apparent for Conine in left. The Riedling - Nunez trade rumor was bunk. The Reds don't need an extra outfielder.

He isn't seeing any pitches Look at the line-up, the Wilson boys(.356 and .345) are having career years hitting between him. IMO the guy is tried of losing. If trade to Florida you'd see a different player believe me :thumbup
May 10, 200422 yr lol, if we're going to get Kendall, we're going to have to give up one of our top prospects. (probably Stokes) Oliver and Phelps have pretty much zero trade value.
May 10, 200422 yr I would trade oliver to pittsbugh for a primanti sandwhich and a shiny new blue tee...
May 10, 200422 yr Marlins get: John Riedling, Jason Kendall Reds get: Ramon Castro, Abraham Nunez, Brian Meadows, Josh Fogg Pirates get: Javier Valentin, Franklyn Gracesqui, Darren Oliver, Cory Lidle, Tommy Phelps, Wily Mo Pena !!! EDIT: BEFORE ANYONE SAYS ANYTHING, I KNOW IT'LL NEVER HAPPEN I actually think this deal hurts us. Who would be our #5 til AJ comes back? Plus, you are trading away 2 bullpen arms and only getting 1 back in return. Who are you going to replace the other with? Kendall would help us at the C position though, but his salary is another issue altogether. I dont think the C position is as bad as it seems. I think Castro will come around and Red will do fine in the interim. Riedling though would be a good trade, but what would the Reds want for him?

Call up Tejera, Borland, and Neu. Wayne = #5 starter until AJ back. When AJ is back, send down the one who's doing worse. (Tejera, Borland, Neu) It's perfect I'm telling you!
May 10, 200422 yr Givng up way too much though! The Pirates basically want to give Kendall away to anyone who is willing to pay half his $11M salary. And Riedling is nothing special. A soft-tossing righthander with control problems.

A soft-tossing righthander with control problems. Well screw Riedling then. But Kendall can REALLY helps this team. Great hitter. He's not gonna hit a lot of HR's, but neither is Mike Redmond. And we can trade Nunez to the Pirates and they could start him next year after Mondesi is gone. Either way, it's perfect.
May 10, 200422 yr Again I don't think Nunez has much value. He's an unproven player at 27 years of age.
May 10, 200422 yr Author Again I don't think Nunez has much value. He's an unproven player at 27 years of age. But he has the potential to become a good player. That's why he has SOME value. Along with Phelps, Gracesqui, and Castro. They all have potential. Except maybe Phelps.
May 10, 200422 yr not a smart deal. well for us it would be.... but usually you have to actually give up something to get something in return. and we wouldnt take on that kendall contract unless a lot is paid by the pirates.
