An unpopular opinion, BUT....

Oh ya Oliver is probaly a 5F?

He doesn't even deserve a number.

And Tonyi, most power pitchers are susceptible to runs early and get stronger as they go along in the game. Teams have just hit Josh early, when he is most likely to be hit. Hopefully he'll decide enough is enough and throw 4 straight no hitters, but we'll just have to wait and see. We know he is capable.

Maybe this is the real Beckett.

Aside from Sept. and the post-season last year he's a career .500 pitcher. Maybe we all gave him, too much credit too early.

Maybe this is the real Beckett.

i doubt it

im no super genious scouting director, but it's so unbelieveably obvious that he has so much potential it's crazy

unless he goes Josh Hamilton, it's very hard for him to be bad

I will say this much regarding Beckett, He's pitched far better in day games than in night games. What this means I don't know, I mean I know they can't schedule a day game every fifth day. Josh has showed more than flashes of brilliance, but also inconsistencies too. IMO he needs a couple of outings where he gets the crap kicked out of him and then maybe this will wake him up to the fact he needs to bring it every time out the hill.

What do you call the massacre against the Braves? He did go along to be the Rockies in his next start but......

That was ugly today. Lack of concentration and dedication seem to be the problem here. I thought that he may have an injury at the begining of the game.

If Beckett think his made it...He's so wrong. The kid look like his not workin on his craft. IMO he's not studying the scouting reports and really looking like a guy who thinks "hey I'm Beckett I've made it."

first, How does he pitch Lankford a first pitch fastball, when that's his emo fastball first pitch swinger. 1-0 redbirds

second, How do you give a light hitting hitter like Luna a curveball with a 1-2 count?

Just little thing I've pick-up. Either this Hollywood thing has gone to his head or his upset over the pay cut in the offseason, but his not our ACE...not even close.

The birthday boy better look in mirror and see that the guy in the mirror is NOT the same guy we saw in October.

This may be harsh, but the kid has not pitch well at all since the first game of the season. :confused

This is more of an obvious post than anything.

Beckett has not gotten it together since the first game. He has had his moments, but he has not been sharp.

But it is way too early to rule him out. This guy is very competitive and wants to win. He also wants to be a great player and believes he can be. He is growing up right now - it is one thing to pitch well when no one expects you to, it is another to do so when teams are getting up to face you and everyone expects you to be the best. He will learn and he will grow. There is nothing wrong with him that time - and some humility - couldnt teach him.

Beckett's performance thus far is bringing Jack Morris to mind from 1991.

I think he's still our #1 guy this year, AJ included. Beckett, when he "pitches" is nasty. That curve is flat out unhittable...but he isn't "pitching" all that much. Rosenthal better sit him down and give him a serious talking to because whatever he's doing right now isn't working.

I don't think Pudge leaving has much to do with it because he's one of the most notoriously under-prepared catchers...he routinely skips pitcher/catcher meetings. I think it has more to do with Castro not knowing the hitters all that well yet, so maybe Rosenthal needs to start calling the pitches instead of Castro...I don't know what the problem is, but there certainly is one right now...

Beckett pitches best when he has that cocky, confident, im gonna kick their ass attitude... i don't see that anymore. Call me crazy but I think LeeAnn is getting to him... :confused

And it's all a mental thing... because everybody here knows that this guy can pitch! He's just missing something...and i don't know what it is

I just hope Beckett isn't having trouble with his elbow again. I believe it was last year around this time when he started having trouble and it turned out to be an injury and he was out for what 6 - 8 weeks? If he is, I hope he doesn't try to pitch through it!

He just didn't look like himself out there.

damn what happened to the JBeckett is the best pitcher in league stuff...some of you guys make me sick....this guy is going to be one of the best in the buisness...this is really his first full season he is still in the learning process beleive it or not its going to take him about another two seasons before he starts to get the 15+ wins but when he gets there he's not going to look back...look at Penny i love this guy but he has never won 15 games i think he's going to do it this season but look how long its taken him,why because now he is mature and knows the hitters and has learned how to pitch....same goes for pavano,willis,burnett...there all going to be 20 game winners but not yet is going to take time...does anyone remember the atlanta braves they had two guys that were horrible for a couple of years what was there names,o'yea glavine..smoltz...and after they learned the system they became awsome pitchers so guys relax the guys are still young and every team in the leauge wishes they could have anyone of the guys on our staff...as for you guys ripping JBeckett am going to write down all your names so when this guy dominates and all you guys jump on the wagon and gonna kick your asses right of and take a f***ing walk...

Guys, he had a bad start and didn't give the team a chance. He is not going to win every game, all we ask is that he let the team have a chance and he didn't last night.

the fact is the Josh has looked like garbage this year

he should bounce back..... eventually right?

Probably not until the post-season.....assuming we make it.

he will bounce back trust me he will finish with at least five more wins than loses..the kid has lots of talent...yes he has been missing on pitches but it may be also that him and Red arent on the same page yet...
