farmer_fran
He went to for 2-3 yesterday with 2 walks, increasing his batting average to .386 and he has an OBP of .479. While leading the PCL with 12 homers and an OPS of 1.243. Those are Barry Bonds like numbers for AAA. My theory is if somebody's seeing the ball that well you find a way to get him up here, but who would we send down? In a perfect world I would trade Cordero for relief help, but I don't think we could get much for him. I'd like to know if you guys think Sutton should be called up or should he stay in AAA. cgator
Well, it is AAA and it is also the PCL. I seem to recall Castro always having inflated numbers in AAA, but it never seems to have translated to the major league level. If 1B remains a slumping offensive position, perhaps a move or two could happen, but I think that day will still be a while off (barring injury of course.) jonnylons
I agree that he should get a shot up at the MLB level, but where? The problem for us is, we have too much hitting at about the same quality. We are crowded. Now, if we could package some players to get a reliever or something we need, that would be great. Easely, Cordero, Nunez - at least one of these guys is expendable if you want to bring up a guy like Sutton. And dont forget we have Banks down there too. All three of those guys have some solid upside but no teams are dealing now because technically, everyone is in the race right now. So I think Sutton is just going to have to keep hitting and wait his turn. If we make a deal for a reliever, maybe he gets his shot. I dont know where Sutton plays though, is it 1B/3B? I dont think he plays LF...
ERF
i say call him up for a week or two to see wutt he does.
Hugg
He's 34, he's a career .236 hitter in the bigs, he's a 4-A player. No reason to waive someone from the 40 man to call this guy up.
FishFanPR
All three of those guys have some solid upside but no teams are dealing now because technically, everyone is in the race right now. I agree. IMO, the Marlins just have to hang in there until at least All Star Break, where teams that are out of it will start dealing and praying next year will be better. If we're still first or second around that time, we'll definitely make some moves to strengthen the bullpen, just like the FO did last year!! catchoftheday
Roberto Petagine a 1st base prospect that once played for the Mets who broke just about every single AAA record and had Bonds-like seasons in AAA was never succesful in the Majors. I see the same thing happening to Sutton. Plus he's getting old ... hmmm actually now that I think about it, wasnt Sutton first drafted by the Mets as an OF? nc marlin
Not even worth a look. He's a filler player. I'd rather see Aguila get the call if you're going to call up a position player from AAA.
Wild Card
Look, Sutton is doing something right now. I don't know what it is, neither do you guys, but you can't ignore those numbers.
rferry
I'd like it if he replaced Harris on the roster, but that's going to happen. There's no other role he could replace. Cordero has a major league contract and has little trade value. Nunez and Castro are out of options. Easley and Mordecai, well, Wilson Valdez and Josh Wilson have better chances of being called up for them.
geemoney
Are you the same guys that wanted to call up Stratton last year too?
Wild Card
Are you the same guys that wanted to call up Stratton last year too? The only time anybody wanted Stratton up was in September, when he wouldn't take up a regular roster spot.
Marlins2003
Are you the same guys that wanted to call up Stratton last year too? To compare Sutton and Stratton is just plain silly.
Wild Card
Are you the same guys that wanted to call up Stratton last year too? To compare Sutton and Stratton is just plain silly. My thoughts exactly. Sutton is hitting a good .175 points higher than Stratton. :lol

I know that lots of people here like to jump on "flavor of the week" players.
CapeFish
This team is complete in my opinion. Beinfest gave them the pieces, but it takes them time to put it together. Remember, historically, the Marlins do not start well in May and July. Right now, we play unenergize, but that is because the team is in a collective slump. Rex
Tonight Admin only went 1 for 3(.385) in the Isotopes 10-4 win over Edmonton. He also had a walk and a k. C Matt Treanor went 4 for 5(.303) with a double and a HR(5th). Mike Tejera pitched 7 innings of shutout, 4 hit ball to get the win(4-0...2.57 ERA).
