May 21, 200422 yr Author Our suggestions of the lineup have finally been put into todays's starting lineup. Jack Mckeon a lurking member on the boards? Actually that's happened a lot. Lowell batting third was suggested here before McKeon tried it out for a week. Probably to do more with the shere amount of suggestions and the intelligence of our members than anyone from the organization visiting the boards a hour before gametime.
May 21, 200422 yr Can everyone stop kissing Nunez' ass? He's not better than Conine and right now, I'd rather start Harris. Who the hell is Nunez? Pitchers are gonna go right after him. Everyone knows who Harris is. Pinch Hit leader and then former All-Star right after him. I like it. haha i think most would agree that lenny harris sucks. being the "pinch hit leader" means you suck at fielding and you weren't ever good enough of a hitter to be the regular DH on any AL team over your long bench-warming career. i woulda much rather seen nunez get the start over harris. Harris has 1000+ hits in his career Alkazoid. Sorry to burst your bubble. And he isn't DH because he doesn't have the longball potential. :wow my bubble has been burst by this shocking news youve just given me. man, the guy has accumulated 1000 hits in his 17 seasons! that's almost 60 hits a season!!!! :notworthy
May 21, 200422 yr Author Lenny's a career .260 hitter Although you can't ignore we're 2-0 with him in the lineup.
May 21, 200422 yr old man Harris did come through with a big 2-out 2 RBI single tonight right after Cabs hit into that bases loaded double play. my hat's off to him. he's not gonna get many starts, but Jack pushed the right buttons tonight. :thumbup
May 21, 200422 yr We need to give Harris a chance. We're aren't doing great lately, no one can deny that, and he could be a surprise for us, he really could. He's done good so far this year, you gotta give him a chance.
May 21, 200422 yr This thread is funny...... someone wanted Castillo on the DL and not starting and a few of you wanted Nunez starting instead of Harris. So Harris proceeds to get 2 RBI's and Castillo gets 3 hits.. LOL... Ohhh and if there is a key situation with runners on and I had to pick between Harris and Nunez.....I'll take Harris thank you.
May 21, 200422 yr This thread is funny...... someone wanted Castillo on the DL if he is hurt, i still want him on the DL
May 21, 200422 yr the guy has accumulated 1000 hits in his 17 seasons!? that's almost 60 hits a season!!!! Look at his AB's. Only ~3780 AB's over those 17 seasons though. 1000 hits in that context doesn't look so bad particularly since he's not an everyday player. He's the textbook definition of a utility player who can play every position in the field except catcher - he even pitched an inning some years ago. Didn't give up any hits or walks and even managed to strike someone out. Lenny is a hell of a lot cheaper than a name like say - Jason Giambi. Lenny's AVG is comparable, K's a whole lot less too. Did someone just compare Lenny Harris to Jason Giambi? :banghead
May 21, 200422 yr I'm just happy to see Harris step up last night. We really needed someone to show leadership, and Lenny did just that. Once again, bases loaded, no outs.......Cabrera chokes by hitting the first pitch into a double play, and we're all thinking here we go again. Lenny stepped up and got a HUGE 2 out single scoring two runs.....a situation that lifted the team......and kept the momentum for us in the game. That single contribution may be the turning point if we keep the enthusiasm going into the D'Backs series tonight. :thumbup
May 21, 200422 yr Lenny Harris >>> Jason Giambi in the pimp factor. Have you seen the deodorant commercial where Giambi tries to act like Lenny? Pfft.
May 21, 200422 yr Can everyone stop kissing Nunez' ass? He's not better than Conine and right now, I'd rather start Harris. Who the hell is Nunez? Pitchers are gonna go right after him. May 21, 200422 yr Did someone just compare Lenny Harris to Jason Giambi? Indeed I did. In terms of value for $$$, Lenny's got it all over Giambi. Giambi might have hit a grand slam last night, but there would have been a lot better chance he'd just whiff... Lenny is smart enough to know that swinging for the fences isn't always the right answer. Usually HR hitteres strikeout a bunch. Would you rather have a team full of giambi's or Lenny F Harris?
