May 22, 200421 yr never doubted it, plus I've been saying all afternoon that sparks was going to get sparked.
May 22, 200421 yr As was said...once Castillo started ripping the ball, the Fish would return to their winning ways. Good game by AGon today, always good to see him succeed at the plate. As for Castro, he always seems to be the sour note no matter how good we play.
May 23, 200421 yr Credit to Lenny......got the first hit, and scored the first run. Was glad to see Jack give him a rest....so he can start again tomorrow. :thumbup

So likely we won't see him in the line-up tomorrow. Looks like Sexson will be out again as well.
May 23, 200421 yr Penny is one of the most underrated players in the league. Also I think this spark has to be credited to falling behind the Phillies in the division, so hopefully we keep it alive now that we are ahead of them again.
May 23, 200421 yr Penny is a great pitcher IMO. He is overlooked by so many just because he is not paid like an "Ace" or because he doesn't win flashy with 10 Ks or so. But the man gets it done with his good stuff. Keep it going Fish! HOORAH!
May 23, 200421 yr Brad Penny has a magical potion that gives us the spark. The guy just doesn't lose. *knocks on wood*
May 23, 200421 yr Ok lets give Penny a five-year contract worth 30 million right now. Once the stadium deal firms up the FO should be working on contracts for both Pavano and Penny.
May 23, 200421 yr Author He is overlooked by so many just because he is not paid like an "Ace" or because he doesn't win flashy with 10 Ks or so. Penny can put a lot of K's up on the board, but that used to be his problem. He thought he was A.J. Burnett and tried to blow it by everyone for a bunch of K's. What good is nine K's if you only pitch three innings and give up seven runs? He's learned that it doesn't matter how you get the outs, just that you get them. He'e learned how to pitch.
May 23, 200421 yr Hopefully Dontrelle learns that. I think his pitch count has been under 50 by the third inning just twice this year.
May 23, 200421 yr The spark is definitely back. Grand Slam woo woo. Need Dontrelle to be on his A game tomorrow against Randy.

Penny was overthrowing today, and you know it. He pitched well, but he threw all of two pitches in the first inning under 95 MPH, and to be a successful pitcher in the majors you can't stress yourself like that. In this game it didn't matter because we put up a nice 10 spot for him before he left with the QS and the W after only giving up one, but I still think he has some stuff to learn.
