Here is how I would fix the problem of Castro

Featured Replies

We have 111 games left. If we went with a platoon evenly split between Red, Castro, and another catcher, they each would play 37 games each.

That would be better for everyone. We didn't need 3 catchers last year as badly as we do this year.

name 1 other team that has a 3 way platoon at catcher. we had it last year. Name another team that won a World Series last year? and it was stupid last year too!

damn i thought we had pudge with red gettign a few starts and castro with a few pinch hits.

hardly what i would call a platoon genius.

i have a perfect solution to all of our problems

Jason......Kendall

I agree

but Id like to try "in house" first

we would have to give up alot for him

if Willingham gets called up, HE STARTS THE MAJORITY of the game

you just dont do that to the kid

same goes for Treanor(although he aint a kid)....

Castro doesnt deserve 1 more ab with this club(that being said, he probably starts tonight... sigh) there is theoretical, then there is reality.

We have the pieces, we just need to get them together again.

Redmond, Castro, and Treanor/Willingham should split the games about evenly. Remember, Castro earned his job in the spring, so did Red, the others didn't.

why would you do that to the kid Cape?

let him get his abs somewhere else

would you have called up Cabs last year just to platoon in LF with Holly and another OF?

NO

the kid needs ABs

what were castro's spring numbers...not that it matters really.

castro was given the starting job comign into this year...witht he understanding that red would split about evenly the games with him.

red can play every other game or 1 out of every 3 games.

you just need someone servicable who can go every other game or 2 out of 3 games....castro isnt that.

a 3 way platoon is just utterly STUPID.

face it.

it was given to them on a silver platter whether they hit .500 or .050

if willingham is called up he is the everyday catcher.

red starts about 1/3 of the time.

if treanor is called up its probably closer to 50/50 between red and matt.

37 games x 3 At bats per game = 111 ABs minimum

Not included are PH, defensive replacements, etc.

You guys need to learn how to talk in paragraphs. I'm tired of all this damn scrolling.

Yeah.

Stop doing this.

It hurts the knees, but you either can or cannot. Castro can, but his bat is what is messing him up.

not only will this never happen, it would be a HORRIBLE mistake on many levels. first of all, the Pirates are making a run at things right now, so they're likely not moving anyone for the time being. second of all, his contract is ludicrous. considering the amount he's paid, and calibur of player he is, Jason Kendall's contract is one of the worst deals (relative to the return on investment) in all of baseball, and possibly in all of sport. Sure, Manny and ARod are getting paid $20 million per year, but at least they're future Hall of Famers....Kendall's getting paid $13 million, but he's a .300 hitter with 15-homer power.

Remember, Castro earned his job in the spring, so did Red, the others didn't.

please.... Castro didn't earn his way onto the team in the spring. He was already going to be handed the starting catcher spot this year, regardless of what he did during the spring. everyone knows this.

nor did Redmond earn his spot during the spring. He was already an established catcher with the team & certainly wasn't going to be sent down.

Castro hasn't done anything to hold his spot with the team.

I could (but won't) argue that he has in fact never done anything to secure a starting role with the Marlins.

He was given a chance to start several years ago & flopped.

He was good coming off the bench & getting a handful of starts the past 2 years.

He was given the chance to start again this year & has flopped miserably.

I don't want Castro to fail. I root for him to snap out of this funk every time he goes to the plate. But facts are facts.

call up willy, give him a little more than half the starts, maybe 3/5, and have redmond the rest

castro is hurting us way to much to just have us wait and hope he snaps out of this

Make him snap out of this on the bench

It hurts the knees, but you either can or cannot. Castro can, but his bat is what is messing him up.

that comment makes 0 sense.

adn i'm just trying to help you cape.

castro sucks. period.

no other team has a 3 way platoon at catcher. no mlb team probably ever will.

If the other 2 had done anything that made them standout in the spring, which they did not, they would have had a chance of being on the roster. Redmond had the job, Castro did too, but not as sure as Red.
