Here is how I would fix the problem of Castro

Featured Replies

Remember, Castro earned his job in the spring, so did Red, the others didn't.

please.... Castro didn't earn his way onto the team in the spring. He was already going to be handed the starting catcher spot this year, regardless of what he did during the spring. everyone knows this.

nor did Redmond earn his spot during the spring. He was already an established catcher with the team & certainly wasn't going to be sent down.

Castro hasn't done anything to hold his spot with the team.

I could (but won't) argue that he has in fact never done anything to secure a starting role with the Marlins.

He was given a chance to start several years ago & flopped.

He was good coming off the bench & getting a handful of starts the past 2 years.

He was given the chance to start again this year & has flopped miserably.

I don't want Castro to fail. I root for him to snap out of this funk every time he goes to the plate. But facts are facts. If the other 2 had done anything that made them standout in the spring, which they did not, they would have had a chance of being on the roster. Redmond had the job, Castro did too, but not as sure as Red. yes.

he.

did.

the only question mark with castro was his legal issues.

and Ramon and Red were GIVEN their roster spots to them.... Treanor did not have a legit chance of beating them out

It hurts the knees, but you either can or cannot. Castro can, but his bat is what is messing him up.

adn i'm just trying to help you cape.

castro sucks. period.

no other team has a 3 way platoon at catcher. no mlb team probably ever will. how does it not make sense Das?

Castro has been decent behind the plate, but his bat is what is killing him.

and?

talk to 30 + year old catchers.

they have caught over 100 games in a year and are still doing it and producing something over .200 for a batting average.

If he were that good he would be up here.

no no no no no.

I'd say there was a 99.9% probability of Ramon Castro and Mike Redmond being the catchers this year.

anyone else want to disagree?

(*except for legal issues, I should've added)

true dat - the marlins are not blind to our catching woes. if we're not seeing these guys yet, there's a reason.

true dat - the marlins are not blind to our catching woes. if we're not seeing these guys yet, there's a reason. if none of us, the smartest and most informed fans can't see it, there probably is not a decent reason. You never know, but in my eyes, there's absolutely no reason at all that treanor or JWill isn't playing on the big club yet, no reason at all.

he is not brad ausmus or a mike matheny type who you live with his offensive liabilities because of his abilities behidn teh plate.

not by a long shot.

You guys are jumping on this too quickly. We need to look at the problem. All you guys know how to do is yell, scream, call names, and ignore the fact that Castro and Redmond made this club. You all wanted Castro to start over Redmond last season, even going as far as to say Redmond was too expensive.

No you all see Castro struggle at the plate (very badly) and want him gone.

Redmond

1) Injured

2) Hitting well

3) Defending well

Castro

1) healthy

2) out of options

3) Hitting is non-existant

4) Defending adequately

When Sea Bass was slumping, you all wanted him gone too.

Castro and Redmond did not "make" the team.... they were offered a job right off the bat.... they could have sucked and still would have made it

again you are misinformed.

not all of us wanted castro to start.

i know i for one never believed in him.

secondly comparing sea bass to castro is like comparing apples to oranges.

sea bass has never been under .150

sea bass is probably one of the top 3 defenders at his position.

castro may not be in the top half of catchers behind the plate.

apples-oranges.

they dont compare.

the a-gon bashing was nothing compared to this

he is a premier defender, hitting near .200 at the time, and it wasn't nearly this big of a problem

castro is a below average MLB catcher fielding wise, and an average AA hitter, at this point

the only way castro and redmond do not make the team out of the spring is if they were on the disable list

I don't believe Willingham or Treanor deserves to come up here and become the #1 catcher. sorry, #2 maybe, but not #1.

bulls***, someone struggles and you all want him gone.

Cabs slumps at the plate last year and with the glove and you all want him on the bench.

Willis struggles and you all want him in the bullpen.

Redmond was dispensible because of the all mighty Castro.

Remember the calls to "Free Castro?"

Conine slumps and you all want him on the bench.

Get control of yourselves. It is a slump, but Castro a major leaguer, he will get out of it.

slumps last for a couple of weeks.

not a couple of months.

genius.
