June 23, 200422 yr From ESPN's Jason Stark: Florida also appears to have cooled in its pursuit of Beltran. The Marlins had talked about moving Juan Pierre to left for Beltran and shifting Jeff Conine to first, where he would have shared time with Hee Seop Choi. But clubs that have spoken with Florida say the Fish seem reluctant to take on a big contract -- at least for now. So that knocks the Marlins out on Beltran, who makes $9 million a year. The Marlins are still looking for more bullpen pieces, even after dealing for Billy Koch. It's believed they were in on Jason Grimsley. There are indications they have interest in several Orioles relievers. And they've contacted a number of other teams. Florida is dangling outfielder Abraham Nunez, and the Marlins will talk about their overflow of shortstop and pitching prospects. At one point, the Marlins were also frantically searching for either a starting catcher or a left-handed hitter to platoon with Mike Redmond. Now, it appears, they've just about given up on finding someone who fits. But an official of one club that has talked with them says there's still one name left on their shopping list -- Tampa Bay's Toby Hall. Link to Article Another indication we are out of the Beltran sweepstakes. I couldn't see us moving JP to left...and better situation would have been to put Beltran in right and move Cabrera to left. More BP pieces on the way? Rosenthal has some work to do with Koch until he is ready to contribute. Toby Hall? He would help against left-handed pitchers, but really don't see him as much of an upgrade. Glad to see the FO is looking for options to address our LF lack of production.
June 23, 200422 yr There's nothing really on the market that could help the Fish right away. I doubt we'll get a catcher because there's no one that's really great that would make the Marlins pull the trigger and we're just gonna have to deal with Conine in left. Call up Dillon and see what happens becase minus Beltran, there are no "TRADE FOR HIM RIGHT NOW" guys out there.
June 23, 200422 yr i want DEL GADO!!!!!!! lol like thats eva gonna happen he's not even havin a great year like he had last year...... wha eva happens happens..... i would like 1 big bat and an Uggey...... but the market looks like garbage...... who is there besides Beltrain?
June 23, 200422 yr Even though Carl Everett has been injured many times this year, I'd like to see us make a run at him. Also Danny Bautista would be nice too. And of course i'll say it again, Rondell White... but GD Detroit isn't fallin out of the race in that weak division any time soon... edit: though they are 7 games out... would be nice to see them drop more than 10 games out before the trade deadline
June 23, 200422 yr orioles have some nice relievers lets give Dillon a chance before we trade for a bat Interesting that nothing was mentioned about matt stairs.....we'll have to wait and see folks!
June 23, 200422 yr orioles have some nice relievers BJ Ryan would be a nice 7th inning guy Toby Hall...NO I'm a big fan of Danny Bautista though. Wouldn't mind seeing him out there

June 23, 200422 yr Author Bautista just got traded to KC. That was Denny the pitcher. This is Danny the outfielder. OK, yeah Danny from the D'Backs would be a nice pick up! What would motivate them to move him?
June 23, 200422 yr When Anaheims outfield is healthy thers an excess of players there in Salmon, Anderson, Guerrero, Guillen, Mondesi, and one of those will be a DH i think thell be willing to give up Salmon or Mondesi if Mondesi is eligible to be traded this early after the signing.
June 23, 200422 yr Bautista just got traded to KC. That was Denny the pitcher. This is Danny the outfielder. OK, yeah Danny from the D'Backs would be a nice pick up! What would motivate them to move him? They're 12 games out of first and he is 32 years old and makes 4 million. I'm not sure they are ready to give up on the season yet though. He's put up pretty good numbers this year.
June 23, 200422 yr anaheim doesnt have a reason to trade any of those guys they need starting pitching and thats about it. nothing that we can give them since we need our 5 starters why would they trade one of those guys....it would just give them less depth
June 23, 200422 yr What about Mike DeJean?? Hes an O, He's horrible. The O's are waiting until the Yankees and Red Sox call in July to give up B.J. Ryan.
June 23, 200422 yr I think Baltimore has some solid relievers that would fit in here.....Ryan, Julio, Lopez...
June 23, 200422 yr I want to see Dillon out there before we get anyone else, as far as certain outfielders are concerned.
June 23, 200422 yr Mondesi is out for the season Don't think he'd help Ouch very tough year for Raul..
