June 25, 200422 yr I know this is gonna be a little pathetic. But in recent games, Marlins lost every game without Choi. (I know there are many reasons except Choi's absence) 'The curse of Choi' is the word originated with the Koreans who can't understand Mckeon. They think Mckeon treats Choi with discrimination because he is an Oriental. This season is Choi's 1st full season in major league. It is natural for him to not be perfect. He is still in process of training.(study?^^;I'm sorry I'm poor at English.T.T) I think Choi deserves more chance. I think Mckeon should give Choi a chance first, and value him later!! He only 14 ab vs lefty this season. Korean fans think that Choi is losing his sense of the game by Mckeon's platooning stuff, and worr y that he'll never see a lefty in his whole career. Some Koreans even say that it would be better to trade him for...?Ф?..

Some Koreans even say that it would be better to trade him for...?Ф?.. it's not only the Koreans who think this.....many Americans think this too. i believe he has earned the opportunity to play every game. we are not scoring many runs anyhow - McKeon takes risks with the lineup all the time, why won't he take a risk on Choi and lefties? but it is fascinating to hear the opinions from his native land. welcome!
June 25, 200422 yr I don't think McKeon is discriminating against Choi, I think he is trying to protect him from a long slump.
June 25, 200422 yr Its understandable that most Koreans are pissed because of this platoon situation, and im pissed off myself. Its not discrimination (trust me there is no room in this team for McKeon to do that lol), but rather a sense of him believing that R Vs. L matchups give the Marlins a better chance to win. Maybe as the season progresses McKeon will realize this. If days like today (Easley 0-4) continue, McKeon will have to give a thought to this. Easley/Cordero are not guys who have a hold on being part of the future here in comparison to Choi, so I think there will come a time Choi will be tested more frequently against lefties. Choi is meant to be a regular, that first month was not a fluke.
June 25, 200422 yr The Koreans have a right to be mad. Jack McKeon needs to let Choi play against lefties because if not, how will he ever learn? This guy is WAY too good to platoon his whole career. He has a lot of knowledge for the game and he doesn't get a chance to use it.
June 25, 200422 yr Its ok for Koreans to be mad because c'mon now who tha man? CHOI DA MAN but He is still young but needs to bulk up on hitting leftys ... he should get more at bats and hopefully will, but it is not discrimination ... calm down on good ol' jack :thumbdown either way you get Easley who you would like to see get more AB's because he has been hitting the ball pretty good ... tonight was just 1 game
June 25, 200422 yr It's not discrimination. But i really believe Choi deserves a shot. Do it right now while he's fresh and absorbing all the new things in. How in the world is he ever going to learn how to hit leftys if he never even faces them? And sooner or later Jack will flat out kill his potential if he doesn't get to hit leftys on a regular basis. Because if and when he ever does get a start, he'll feel so pressured and feel like he HAS to hit something.
June 25, 200422 yr I don't think it's discrimination either. I can't read Jack's mind so I won't try to guess what is behind his reasoning. I do think that Choi needs more starts. Easley at first is giving me gray hairs. LOL
June 25, 200422 yr Author I didn't wanna emphasis the "discrimination" part. I just wanna tell you how Korean people feel about Mckeon. Koreans love and care about Choi so much that they can be pathetic easily. They understand somewhat rationally, but get anger against him emotionally. I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable..^^; I wanna believe Mckeon is splendid~ But still I wanna see Choi more~^^;
June 25, 200422 yr I'll admit it. I booed Easley. He's going to go 0-4, not get to balls Choi can get to, drop an easy double play (that would have ended an inning where instead the Braves scored a run or two), and forgot to cover the base like a p***y. Choi can play against lefties, at worst go 0-3 with a walk, and make all those plays on defense. Jack, please, Can Choi play now?
June 25, 200422 yr Author There's something Suddenly come to in my mind..^^;; "Easley"'s pronunciation is so similar to that of the Korean word "??????" (i-z-li)meaning "will forget" So..some Koreans say.. "???? ??????" "I easley easley." ="I will forget easley."

June 25, 200422 yr I dont see how Choi is going to improve against lefties by sitting on the bench watching other guys. Right now Mckeon has no justice is benching Choi, I say let him play against lefties until he struggles.
June 25, 200422 yr it has nothing to do with mckeon not liking choi or thinking that choi does not deserve a chance McKeon loves Choi, in fact the whole team loves Choi the fans love Choi...everybody loves Choi In baseball its common that lefty batters sit out against lefty pitchers...its just a part of the game
June 25, 200422 yr Cuz Thome sits against Dontrelle? Or Abreu for that matter? but Abreu is really good against LHP and its kinda hard to take Thome out of the lineup :lol no doubt give Choi some chances against LHP ... but I still dont mind seeing Easley in the lineup once in a while
June 25, 200422 yr I gotta agree with you, Tommy Hutton has said it several times. It's a self Fulfilling prophecy, if you dont start him against lefties then he will never learn. if he really is our first baseman for years to come you have to give him his reps against lefties. cabs is getting them so should choi
June 25, 200422 yr Abreu is really good against LHP and its kinda hard to take Thome out of the lineup :lol You can't succeed if you don't try

June 25, 200422 yr Choi will be freed tomorrow for all to see. McKeon can only keep the guy caged so long. I think McKeon will play him enough soon once he sees that Easley has had enough starts. Remember he wants to keep the bench warm for the start. Choi did suffer a concussion last year, I would like him to wear a helmet at first like Olerud, but he won't have it.

Brazelton is a righty though.
