Jack McKeon and his move tonight

Featured Replies

It's time to fire Jack.

He's not getting the best out of his players, controlling the clubhouse or winning games on the field.

the day we fire jack is the day the downfall of this organization begins. not only will there be turmoil in the clubhouse but the team will start to play worse, the city will see all the problems we are having and stop coming out,and can only hurt our chances to get a stadium deal. u dont fire jack when he made this team what it was last year.

the problem I have with the move is that you sacrifice with a .300+ hitter the past few weeks for 2 guys who have been stinking up the joint

also, we are a struggling offense, you shouldnt be giving up outs like that

enough with the "Fire Jack" stuff though....

don't be ridiculous. Jack is not up there scoring 1 or 2 runs a game, making mistakes on the basepaths or pitching crappy.

I disagree with the move, but if the Marlins score more than 2 measley runs off a garbage pitcher like Rob Bell, we wouldn't be having this argument.

Too much dependence on Lowell and Cabs for all the offense.

Choi is a flyball hitter, worst case scnerio he strikes best case scenerio he gets a hit, and he could have also driven something to deep RF to let both runners tag up.

What made this team last year was a willingness to win.

and who do u think brought that mentality to the ballclub? Jack. PWNED!

I am disturbed about the CHoi move as well, but how about the move before that?

Why pinch run for Cabrera when he was not the tying run?

Pudge help him and so did Uggy

pudge

Jack is managing too much by the book. JP is not running right. Castillo is having mental shutdowns. Lowell and Cabrera can't work any harder. Choi is as hot as can be. Conine is on the comeback trail, but his bat still is hurting us. Gonzalez is absolutely horrid right now. Redmond is playing too much, Treanor too little. The starting pitching really isn't at the top of their game. The bullpen is absolutely unpredictable.

My answers:

1) Fire Bill Robinson and get a new person from either the minors or outside the organization. Do not use Perez or Dawson.

2) Get the big bat for the outfield.

3) Get 2 bullpen guys off the cheap wire.

Pudge and Urbina did not bring any spark to this team last season when they went on the tear. Conine, Lowell, Willis, Cabrera, Pierre, and Pavano did.

Now let me get more in depth.

1) Bring in Edwin Rodriguez from AA Carolina to be the hitting coach.

2) I would get Marquis Grissom or Brad Wilkerson.

3) This can be done around the waiver wire time like we did with Fox last year.

4) Plus move Tony Taylor to be the third base coach and move Jeff Cox to the bullpen.

Now that i think it over the FO provided the spark, they showed the players that they really wanted to win last year by going out and filling all the missing pieces to the puzzle. They guys saw that last year they had a chance to finally win and they went out and played their hearts out.

And the field manager doesn't have something to do with that? He doesn't put a halt to the running game? He doesn't bunt with his best hitters? He doesn't play his bench players way too much? He doesn't bring in groundball pitchers when the infield is forced to play in?

 The offense isn't going to change if you bring in a 20 HR guy. He'll poke a few but it's not going to change much.

The runner would move to third but it wouldn't matter.? We needed 2 runs.? A DP would have killed us (we died anyways).? I'm sure that was part of Jack's thinking.

437508

A double steal eliminates the DP too and gives the guy going to 3rd a chance to score on a throwing error. The most they can get is one and the DP is gone.

Cabrera should have been sent when they were giving 2nd away for free.

437570

Cabrera wasent running it was Nunez so that makes your plan sound even since Nunez has more speed.

Anyone think that the team is fed up with Jack? Lets all remember that no all his players loved him at Cincy.

Managing by the book. You can only manage by the book when you have players who are consistent. Right now, no one on the team is consistent. Even Lowell had the bad streak. McKeon seems to be managing to find some consistency. He has expressed his desire not to put too much pressure on Choi. If Choi strikes out or would have hit into a DP, you guys would have been the first to complain. As far as pinch running, Cabrera was a run that we needed and potential could have kept us out of trouble with some speed.

Do you think McKeon is happy with the team's play and performance? Do you not think he is working Beinfest to find other alternatives even giving up the likes of Willis, Bump, Nunez and others for a bat and bp help.

No one on this forum knows anything about what goes on in the clubhouse or the feelings of the players. Comments like Rferry made about controlling the clubhouse, etc are ridiculous. You know nothing and like before, your comments make your opinions less and less credible.

and for the record, Pierre is not running because Pierre is not comfortable running this year. Castillo is not running because Castillo is not comfortable running and still has the nagging hip injury. Our limited running game is not due to McKeon but more to the two guys with speed and the fact that we really dont have a good three hitter who can take a strike or two and still put the ball in play ((like Pudge did last year)

no reason for the Gnats to move Grissom

Dontrelle aint going anywhere

especially with gonzalez and redmond coming up

I have to agree. You cant depend on Agon AND Red to knock in those runs. Maybe one run, but not for two. You dont take the bat out of probably your most consistent hitter of late.

You make some sense, but do you think Choi's confidence is going up by being benched against leftys and bunting on a possible game ending situation? That sends the wrong message and achieve the opposite (if Jack is doing this to keep Choi's confidence)

Rfairy

know the facts big guy.

He doesn't put a halt to the running game? TRUE you dont know anythign!

He doesn't bunt with his best hitters? WHY NOT? What Little League book are you reading?

He doesn't play his bench players way too much? WHEN you have 10 bench players and 5 regulars, there is always 3 position players subbing.

He doesn't bring in groundball pitchers when the infield is forced to play in? LIKE BEFORE, this is what you want in that situation. AGAIN, check your little league book before commenting.
