Lakers Agree to Deal!

Featured Replies

you guys are f***ing ignorant. im sure if you were the owner you would pull this trade in a heartbeat just because of what it will bring to your franchize. its too early to keep on arguing and jumping to conclusions. because that is what everyone is doing. your not even giving a REMOTE chance of anything outside your own opinion happening. and that is ignorance. this is one to stick in the back pocket and take out later to see the outcome. so please, just let it play out.

If Butler's not in the deal - you gotta pull the trigger, this chance doesn't come up every offseason.

If Butler's in the deal - forget it.

Simple as that.

Finally someone agrees, I hope Riley feels the same way.

Ok once again from what was reported the deal is not w/ Butler.

Sources told ESPN's Jim Gray on Friday night that if the Heat agree to trade Brian Grant, Lamar Odom and either Caron Butler or a No. 1 draft pick, then the Lakers will trade them Shaquille O'Neal. The deal s in Miami's hands now, the sources said.

Watch with amazement when the Lakers hold out for Butler.

And they will.

put it this way. when this deal DOESNT HAPPEN i will celebrate. shaq isnt shaq anymore. hes a 20 ppg 11 rpg player. odom can put up those numbers.

Either Caron Butler or 1st rounder, that's what was reported. We hold all the chips, if they change their mind and want Butler then no deal and they are stuck with a unhappy Shaq and lose him for nothing next year.

actually at this point, id prob do it without butler but id have second thoughts about doing the deal even if butler wasnt in it. shaq doesnt draw to me. we would be just as good with current team with a divac than this team without odom.

put it this way. when this deal DOESNT HAPPEN i will celebrate. shaq isnt shaq anymore. hes a 20 ppg 11 rpg player. odom can put up those numbers.

450226

but odom can't be that dominant center every team is looking for.

i love odom to death but it's a business, what can you do

i'll be happy either way as long a CBut's not in the deal

u summed up my whole point right there. sacraficing a long dynasty for a 2 year rental is not smart. the heat are headed the right way and this deal only f***s that up. bottom line AJB get the point that this deal is bad for the heat longrun

450202

Sheff, it's an OMGSHAQ reaction, it's not that unexpected. I mean, sure, at first glance, who WOULDN'T want Shaq. But if you're willing to take the superstar blinders off and sit down and look at the thing, it just doesn't help much.

450205

yea, the heat have a dynasty to loose. you people dont know waht your saying. your throwing it all away. gtf out of here. how are you throwing it "all away?!?!?!??!?!?!?!" i hope you realize the heat were 42-40 last year. ill just wait till you people realize that this is a buisness and this move makes sense both financialy and performance wise. its not much of a risk at all.

450210

In their first year together.

But of course, 42-40 with a rookie PG and Odom in his first year and Butler hurt half the season is awful and there's NO reason to think that they would be better this year and even better the year after and even better the year after that.

None.

Wade has tapped out his potential. Odom sux and Butler is gonna be hurt all the time. Wright's a bust, Haslem sux, and OMGWELOSTSKIP.

Do this trade NOW! So we win 55 games instead of 49-52 and then we're worse off in 2 years. *YAWN*

450212

its funny how this entire arguement has been based on the heat aquiring shaq, no1 else and having him leave after 1 or 2 years. and doing NOTHING at all at the time that he was here. and yet here i am, putting up a legit arguement

450217

Your argument is not legit and from what me and Das Ohioan can see your nothing but a basketball star fanboy. u hear the star name and automatically say the deal should be done. in the east they heat can compete as much as they can with the current team than with shaq. u still have to go threw detroit

450220

its funny though, how if this trade happens the heats FO seems to agree with me. hmmmmm i wonder who the legit one is here?!?!?!

yea u are agreeing with something thats already been thrown out there and going with the flow of whats been reported. they arent goin with u your the one goin with them cuz u didnt come up with the trade.

put it this way. if we dont have to give up butler just odom, i wouldnt be happy id be pissed. but it would be easier over time to get over it. but if butler is somehow involved, hell would be raised

why are you scrutinizing that?! you get the point and what i was saying. now you just have run out of things to say. yea, im sorry i should refraze that "if this trade happens the heats FO seems to disagree with you."

You're totally right. The Lakers are desperate and they've gotta settle for the pick, otherwise they can kiss Kobe goodbye as well.

^^ No i havent run out of things to say your claiming that u are the one with the legit point because if the trade happens your right and we were wrong.and thats far beyond the point. when the tmac rumors started i could have bet u money that he would be traded because it had already been reported. doesnt make u any more special by just backing up rumors that are alread out there

thats right and just because its a pick doesnt mean its next year. it could be a few years into the future. (if it was next year, im sure the heat would go fairly deep into the playoffs with shaq, so its not a very valuable pick)

once again you are scrutinizing....... *pauses to see sudden shaq commercial on TV* the entire arguement was me agreeing with the move and you disagreeing. then you claim and insult my knowledge when i am not the one who even proposed or made the trade. and dont mention my previous post. if you scroll back you can see i already refrazed it.

Which is it? Is Shaq still capable of being the center of attention for a championship team? Or will he become a $30 million albatross?

After comparing Shaq to six other Hall of Famer centers who also won MVP awards (leaving Willis Reed and Bill Walton out of the discussion) and seeing what happened to their careers after they turned 32, the answer is clear: Any team trading for Shaq is taking a huge risk, gambling not only that he can reverse last year's scoring decline, but that he can remain healthy and productive enough to be the best player on a title contender. This is rare: Of those six Hall of Fame centers, only Hakeem Olajuwon was the focal point of an NBA championship team beyond the age of 31.

its not about wether he was traded. the entire arguement was wether it was a good or bad move and why

I know it's hard Sheff since we all grew to love Odom but at one point, you gotta realize that we're gonna be better off with Shaq for now. We're never gonna be able to find a center like this again, yes he might not be the same "Diesel" he was a couple of years ago but he's still dominant, he's still tall as hell, and he's still feared. I'm gonna have a hard time parting with Odom, that's my homie, but it's a business and it's only about money unfortunately, as you know.

Riley's not gonna give this up. He's not afraid to make moves and take risks.

If the trade doesn't occur, I'll be happy and just pretend like all this s*** never happened. If it does, it's a new phase of the Heat franchise.

Good night everyone.

I dont hate shaq, and to tell u the truth id prob buy season tickets should we get him and not lose butler. the point im making is id rather have odom with this team for the long run and wait 2 years to make a run at another big name player(should there be one)
