Lakers Agree to Deal!

Featured Replies

i dont think that trade flies in terms of hte CBA.

realgm is being a pain the ass so i cant check the trade to verify...and i dont believe that draft picks count for anything in terms of the cap.

hell i am not even sure if including butler makes it work...that would make it very close though.....

The NBA sucks because the cap doesn't allow teams to get away from the basement.

I hope they do this deal, but we have to keep Butler. Trade the draft pick, because the Heat need the attention.

ok...

L.A. Lakers trades: C Shaquille O'Neal (21.5 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 2.9 apg in 36.8 minutes)

L.A. Lakers receives: SF Caron Butler (9.2 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 29.8 minutes)

SF Lamar Odom (17.1 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 4.1 apg in 37.5 minutes)

PF Brian Grant (8.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 0.9 apg in 30.3 minutes)

Change in team outlook: +13.5 ppg, +9.9 rpg, and +4.0 apg.

Miami trades: SF Caron Butler (9.2 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 29.8 minutes)

SF Lamar Odom (17.1 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 4.1 apg in 37.5 minutes)

PF Brian Grant (8.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 0.9 apg in 30.3 minutes)

Miami receives: C Shaquille O'Neal (21.5 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 2.9 apg in 67 games)

Change in team outlook: -13.5 ppg, -9.9 rpg, and -4.0 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to L.A. Lakers and Miami being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. L.A. Lakers and Miami had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

works...

now if you are not doing butler but a draft pick...i dont think it flies.

trading odom is stupid.

and what a shocker....shaq is sent to the east.

mitch is stupid...but not that stupid.

teh cap is in place to try to assure all teams having the same abilities to acquire teams that are competitive.

its nobody's fault but the organizations' faults when they get into salary cap problems.

theres NOTHING of this on anywhere, and believe me, im sure it would be ALLLLL over ESPN.................... with that said, if its true................ *dies*

The Cap is evil!

so instead we should just let teams spend whatever they want?

and this deal isnt 'done' yet.

450101

why not? I saw the Lakers dominate all these years with the Cap.

the lakers have dominated becuase of shaq and kobe.

when you have 2 of the best 5 players in the league on your team...its kinda hard to not win.

and shaq only makes what he does becuase he is 'grandfathered' into the CBA.

if the heat resign shaq to a huge deal they will never get a big free agent to miami as long as shaq is on the payroll....so they had better treat wade right.

but it weakens the lakers so i'm thrilled.

it will be even funnier if kobe goes to the other locker room in staples.

Shaq should be able to attract some FA's down south. We would need to add a PF with our MLE, or go with Allen or Haslem, then use the LLE on a back-up PG.

So what would the Heat starting 5 look like if this deal gets done with Butler staying?

450106

O'Neal

Wade

Butler

Jones

?????

That is nice so far. O'Neal would fill in the Heat's biggest flaw of all time...the big man. Wade, Butler, and Jones would be the supporting cast and then you need someone to come in and close a solid starting 5.

And who might that be.. anyone wanna speculate?!

The Heat's future is sealed unless they got a good big man. This deal is a no brainer, it will improve the team.

ok now, tell me how the heat are "throwing away their future"

Odom is pretty young and could be a super superstar and Shaq is 32 and may only be here for just a year or so.... It's tough I liove Odom but you can't pass up on a guy like shaq, if there was a way to keep wade, odom and get shaq that would be friggin crazy.. But who knows if we keep this team the way it is now what could happen... :confused

odom was not the centerpiece of the future, wade is and the heat still get to keep butler and the rookie sensation who they got this year. and just to add the cherry, the heat can always sign a top tier FA when shaq is gone
