I think there are two important questions that have not been answered, yet.

1) What pitcher do we add to the roster when the 5th starter spot comes back? It seems like Bumb is the logical choice for starter, but that will leave us one short in the pen. We will still need to pick up an additional pitcher as long as Beckett is on the DL.

2) What non-pitcher do we remove from the roster to make room for the new guy?

The next 2-3 weeks will be very interesting.

well we currently have 11 pitchers and that's how I think it will stay for the rest of the season. If Beckett is unable to make his next start it shouldn't really be an issue. If not we'll have to see if they make a move, but my guess is that they won't unless they have a game where a pitcher only goes only 2-3 innings. Perisho or Oliver will probably get the axe when Beckett comes back. That being said I'd like to see Harris get released and Dillon get the call up.

You may be right. Some teams carry 12, some carry 11. We were carrying 12 when Beckett went on the DL which led me to think we may go back to 12. With the All-Star break coming up 12 wouldn't be needed until later. However, we have carried 11 before, and if we don't have a reliable 12th, we may stick with 11.

There is an article in the Sun Sentinel today about reshuffling the starting rotation and nothing is even mentioned about Bump. That pisses me off because it's been mentioned several times last week and now nothing. I hope they give him a chance because he is a starter and deserves at least a shot at that fifth spot for now. I really get ticked the way the Marlins jerk these guys around who aren't the stars. But that's baseball!

The article mentions putting Oliver in the rotation. That didn't work out too well last time. :plain

He will just miss one start if his blister goes away. He was put on the DL july 5th, and after the allstar break, the 5th start would be july 20, one day before he would be allowed to return. But that might be a good thing, because he would then get a few more days off as the rotation restarts, so he probably wouldnt pitch until july 25, giving him almost 3 weeks off.
