July 20, 200422 yr Left-hander Jeff Fassero returned to the Colorado Rockies rotation. Adam Bernero is back in the bullpen. Right-hander Travis Driskill arrived from Class AAA Colorado Springs. And veteran Turk Wendell said his farewells, leaving the impression that once he becomes a free agent he might catch on with the Florida Marlins, according to several players. ... Wendell pitched three shutout innings in his final rehab assignment at Colorado Springs on Sunday, but the Rockies evidently didn't feel he fit in their plans. Wendell cleared his personal belongings out of his locker during the day and was designated for assignment Monday night. Wendell, who lives in Castle Rock, had a 7.02 earned-run average in 12 appearances for the Rockies before being placed on the disabled list May 15 with right shoulder soreness. He was 0-1 with a 5.79 ERA in 12 appearances during a 30-day medical rehab assignment. http://rockymountainnews.com/drmn/rockies/...3050016,00.html Imagine Manzy and Wendell. The oddball twins.
July 20, 200422 yr Gas Can Fassero! Turk Wendell is one goofy dude. Doesnt he brush his teeth between innings?
July 20, 200422 yr why do the marlins keep picking up these guys...Koch yes has been doing better except for the other day but that happens...Manzi has been up and down...but wendell the guy has been getting rocked in the minors for the last month...i dont like this move...FO please stop going cheap..
July 20, 200422 yr Wendell almost signed with the fish before the season so it's not that surprising.

July 20, 200422 yr Wendell almost signed with the fish before the season so it's not that surprising. 466299[/snapback] I remember that. So I would not be surprised to hear this is a done deal. Wendell sucks right now, but he's not garbage. There's a difference between smart Garage Sales Buyers and garbage-pickers. Too often when I see someone is Released (tossed-out) by another team, I see a Rally herein to grab the "discard" thinking he is a Garage Sale prize. Koch IMO was a "Garage Sale prize." Yet to prove himself but a good, calculated risk. Someday... we have Fox and Spooney returning. Better for now we try to develop what we have. We can only be a Rehab' Center for a few, not for the many "discards." And right now our Hitters lose more games than our Pitchers.
July 20, 200422 yr No to Wendell....He's a one pitch pitcher. I really dont think we need another uncertainty in the pen.
July 20, 200422 yr I say why not. He can't be worse than some of the guys in our bullpen, and it's better than having to give up prospects...
July 20, 200422 yr I think Wendell would be a decent addition. He's been able to do well in years past. Couldn't hurt to try him out. And will add to the eccentricity of this pitching staff.
July 20, 200422 yr Why a pitcher would sign to play for the Rockies is beyond me. But he did appear in 56 games last year with an ERA of 3.35 for the Phils
July 20, 200422 yr Turk Wendell: *brushes his teeth between innings. *puts in a mouth full of black licorice before he takes the mound. *always jumps over the foul lines *eats Chicken before every game *doesnt drop the rosen bag.. He throws the rosen bag on the ground like a fastball. *Waves to the right fielder before every inning and won't start pitching until the RF tips his cap at him.
July 20, 200422 yr Author I don't think he's better option than Justin Wayne, but he'd would have a better shot of joining the major leagues than Toby Borland and the rest of our AAAA staff.

July 20, 200422 yr Outside of Benitez and Koch he would be the only thing that resembles a major league pitcher in our bullpen. Major Leage minimum should be enough to get Turk, a guy who is fun to watch for his superstitions.
July 20, 200422 yr I'm usually the guy who advocates bringing in former closers in the salad days of their careers as setup men (Botallico, etc.) but Wendell is one I'd want to take a pass on. He's toast.

July 21, 200422 yr Manzy and Wendall..... all we need now is....quick someone name another crazy player.!
July 21, 200422 yr According to one of the papers today (S.S or Herald), the Marlins aren't interested in Wendell.
