July 22, 200422 yr This comes from a big Conine supporter, but stats are stats. Average- .259 and fallingApril .309 May .267 June .247 July .191 Slugging- .386 and fallingApril .426 May .442 June .341 July .319 OPS- .708 and fallingApril .774 May .765 June .688 July .559 Now he could very well have a giant turnaround and tear it up these last 2 months, but can we take that chance? Since he came over from Baltimore last year he's batting below .250. Niner had several good seasons with the Orioles, but let's face it, that was not a team that was going to sniff the playoffs. Batting 5th and 6th on a defending World Series champion team, we can't have this kind of production. I'm a big supporter of Jeff's & no one was happier to see him come home to Florida last year & be a part of that champion team, but this team needs some help. My top priority would be a catcher, but there doesn't seem to be much available out there. The next hole is at left field, & if Finley's available I say go get him.
July 22, 200422 yr poor guy has lost ALL his bat speed watching him the last few games....pitchers are giving him MEATBALLS right down the plate and he cant do anything with them.....he just cant catch up to the heat anymore.... finley would be the solution...till then, put willy in left
July 22, 200422 yr Conine definetly is struggling. But I wont say someone else needs to play instead of him because there is no better option. If there's men on base and we need a hit, I'll take Conine over Nunez or Willingham....they haven't proven themselves IMO.

Yet, I really do think that he'll have a less significant role on next year's team.
July 22, 200422 yr 3-run homer today for Conine.....still he is lagging, but according to his career avg, he should have a couple of hot months coming up.
July 22, 200422 yr He is batting .300 with two homers, two doubles and nine RBI over the last eight games
