I don't agree with what he's doing and he was born on US Soil to boot. I frankly don't care, it's his life if he wants to be a jackass let him do it, it's not hurting me

what makes it even more odd is his reason:

"I am against the war"

:plain

since when is GBA a pro war song...

Good for Carlos...showing some balls

Turn your back on the man who sent us to war not to the country.

I guess Carlos percieves the act of singing God Bless America as a sign of support for the decisions made by the president. he's not necessariliy turning against the country. And even if he was, (which even I dont think thats right) it's his decision and he doesnt deserve to be barrated (sp?) for it.

How is this showing some balls?

Anyone could not stand for this.

Show your anti-war support at a rally or in some other forum, not by disrespecting out nation and the person who is singing the song.

This nation was built around the freedom we have here more than any other country...this is one of the few countries where you can display your distaste for governments actions without consequense, and Carlos Delgado did just that. That is not "disrespecting" the nation, it's exercising your first amendment right. If you choose to disagree with what he's doing, than fine...

P.S. I never said in this thread that I was for, or against this war...I simply stated that it showed a lot of balls by Delgado to go against what everyone else was doing in order to make a legitimate statement.

Boxxx Car, your missing the point.

Carlos Delgado can stick a confederate flag in his ass for all i care ( god knows Furman does it ) but the fact his big stink is over an issue that honestly has nothing to do with what he is interupting is incredibly ignint and i just dont get it.

the truth is once hes out of NY and i dont watch him i wont GAF but right now i thnk hes a moron...

Yeah, what he said.

Furman fingers his but with a Robert E. Lee Flask.

Kewl now i know what to buy you as a wedding gift :thumbup

I see your point Jay, but I'm not gonna give him any grief about it, as much as one can disagree with what he's doing, he has the right to do it, despite the fact that it may bother people.

Furman running around with a confederate flag tacked to his ass = priceless

I'm seeing the Blue Jays play in Toronto next week, and I will make sure to boo Delgado.

What he is doing is retarted, senseless, and quite frankly embarassing. There are plenty of MLB players who don't support this war, but to turn your back on your own country and refuse to stand during GBA because your against the war is the dumbest thing I've ever heard, and anybody who is supporting what he does is simply out of touch.

f*** Delgado, last time i checked he's played forever in Canada so that makes him mostly canadian. everyone knows canadians hates us like everyone else. screw canada. I SAY WE INVADE CANADA, and show them how to run a country correctly.

Man, Delgado is up there with Ghandi in my book. What a bold move. What a revolutionary...

People who actually sit down and link the song God Bless America to the War that started in Iraq in 2003 need to find better stuff to do with their time. Delgado is not a hero for civil liberties.

Although, the song does say "America" and there are murderers and thiefs in this country, so I don't like the song either.

Down with GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Why does Delgado stand during the National Anthem?? After all, that song was written overlooking a war battle, and he's "against war", not to mention the song is patriotic....

u r all freaking imbeciles.

the man is protesting the war and that's his way of showing distress. he's also protesting for the mess the US left in vieques after they stopped bombing the island. is his right and ther's nothing wrong witih t, period.

Ballplayers are supposed to respect their damn country during the National Anthem and God Bless America. I really don't care what players are agianst the war.

is it really that damn serious?

let the man sit, does it affect your life in any way, shape, or form?

didn't think so. i mean my god, let's all hate delgado because he didn't stand during a song. big freakin whoop.

I don't find it that serious at all. I think he should be allowed to sit whenever he wants. For all I care he can purposely fart during God Bless America.

What gets to me is the fact that people look at this guy like he saved a girl from a giant gorilla or something. He's not a hero. What he is doing is not heroic and isn't that hard to do. He sits down. I'm sitting down right now. Big deal.

I, in no way, think he's some type of hero but I don't think there was anything wrong with it. It's his decision and his life, I could really care less if he chooses to stand for a song.
