often times there's a moment of silence at footballgames...it's good times....except for the occasional drunk idiot being loud...it's nice.

melikes

i dont see the connection b/t singing a patriotic song and monetarily supporting (or even ideologically) a war?

is it really that damn serious?

let the man sit, does it affect your life in any way, shape, or form?

didn't think so. i mean my god, let's all hate delgado because he didn't stand during a song. big freakin whoop.

It's not the fact that he sits during the song that bothers myself and Passion and other who disagree with what Delgado does, it's the message it sends.

By going out of his way to not stand during God Bless America, he is doing more than "sitting during a song", he is disrespecting his own country, and in my opinion he is disrespecting those that died on 9/11, seeing as 9/11 was what caused GBA to be played during games in the first place.

If the guy doesn't agree with the war in Iraq that's fine, but to just disrespect his own country and ignore God Bless America is just being incredibly ignorant.

if he sat during the national anthem, i have no arguement...that to me would be disrespecting your country.

i don't even think it should send a message, i don't even think it should be news. i personally think it's annoying that they play GBA every damn game. 9/11 was freakin 3 years ago, whatever happened to "take me out to the ballgame". thats a REAL 7th inning stretch song, not some patriotic song to keep on reminding us of the past. they played it out.

I agree that playing Take me out the ballgame would be better, i'm tired of GBA as well (although they don't play it at sox games hardly ever anymore) but if they play GBA, at least show the respect to recognize it, and don't give some BS "i'm against war" reason as to why you won't stand.

And ESPECIALLY to refuse to stand for it in New York, where almost 3,000 innocent people died just a few years ago because of some idiots is just disrespectful, and I'm sorry but if anybody can't agree with that, then I give up.

me either but it was a good suggestion wasnt it?!

i understand you're being facetious, but there really is no problem with a moment of silence after a death pertaining to MLB, the federal or that state's government, or even for the death of soldiers....

nor is there a problem with singing a patriotic song during a game that is considered America's pasttime.

oh no doubt, there's absolutely no problem with having a moment of silence for anyone dying. but it's something that shouldn't be done every game, just like i believe GBA shouldn't be played every game.

the suggestion i was talking about was the donating for the war, which i was of course joking around with.

Cmon people...God Bless America? It's not the national anthem....what is he disrespecting? And please dont tell me he disrespects the victims of 9/11 by not standing to God Bless America...after 3 years.

I agree that they should bring back take me out to the ball game.

He's disrespecting his own professionalism.

He's disrespecting his own professionalism.

To that I can agree...as a professional ball player he definitely shouldn't be trying to make some stupid political statement or whatever the hell he is trying to do.

yea

I'm sorry, you can play the we started playing it because of card, but linking God Bless America to a song that remembers 9/11 is just as moronic as linking it to supporting a war.

And I don't agree with the war, I don't agree with what Delgado's doing, but the thing is he's been doing this all year and none of you cared. Then the media jumps in and makes it a big deal and OMFG. Who cares? He goes into the clubhouse or the tunnel or whatever, big deal.

And as for comparing it to the anthem:

National Anthem Here.

God Bless America There.

One is recoginized as our national song, the other is just a song.

just like i believe GBA shouldn't be played every game.

What's wrong with the GBA?http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:rSs_zcrw0e0J:www.emumania.pl/consoles/gba/gba-3.jpg

Some people are always looking for something to grasp onto to thrust ultra patriotism into our faces.

When The French didn't want to go to war, they were automatically cowards and we are supposed to hate them now it's Delgado because he doesn't want to stand for a song which he has a right to interpret as nothing because it doesn't stand for our national anthem.

Who cares what he does? Worry about your own life not some overpayed baseball player.

Couldn't have said it any better...

Good for Carlos...showing some balls

Props

How is this showing some balls?

Anyone could not stand for this.

Show your anti-war support at a rally or in some other forum, not by disrespecting out nation and the person who is singing the song.

it was MLB who brought politics into this. If you don't believe playing GBA in the seventh inning stretch is a political thing, then you are naive.

The national anthem= time for me to take a quick leak before the game

that's the spirit! worry about you and you alone! :thumbup

So you think sticking your nose in other people's buisness is a good thing? Delgado isn't hurting anyone by doing this up until now their was no media attention for him. Why should people who have never met the guy give a rats ass about what he thinks. He's not breaking the law so what's the big deal. He wants to be an a hole, let him as long as he's not breaking the law it's no ones right to get in his way.
