July 31, 200421 yr I know A pol was already posted butnow that everyone has thought about it more and more people are on
July 31, 200421 yr I like what we're getting, but I don't like that fact that we're losing Choi . 485378 My thoughts exactly... except really, I wouldn't want to lose any of our other position players either. They are all essential.
July 31, 200421 yr if enc and choi would of stayed put , i would like the trade. but i wasnt a fan of trading penny either.
July 31, 200421 yr The problem is we are so used to Beinfest being a bandit, that when a level trade occurs, we complain that it wasn't a steal.
July 31, 200421 yr Explain how two rentals and Encarnacion for an ace, stud 1B and pitching prospect is an even trade.
July 31, 200421 yr Choi is a .270 1B we love him but you cant look past that... 485406 two things. 1) you're replacing him with a .260 1B in conine 2) enc is a .235 outfielder with .289 obp and .411 slg--unheard of for an outfielder how do you look past that?
July 31, 200421 yr everyone is making choi to look out as being the next todd helton talk about overreacting

July 31, 200421 yr Everyone's just in denial how much Choi could have contibuted here. But as long as we get 30 innings of good relief it will all okay, right?

And what happens after that? How many first basemen do we go through until we find one with all of Choi's tools again?
July 31, 200421 yr Explain how two rentals and Encarnacion for an ace, stud 1B and pitching prospect is an even trade. 485403 Ace? Randy Johnson is an ace. Brad Penny? He has a career ERA of 4.04. He is a little bit better than mediocre. Stud 1B? Todd Helton is a stud 1B. Choi is good, but him and a minor leaguer with an ERA over 4 are certainly worth giving up for the top setup man in the NL, an all-star catcher, and an outfielder who will start for us.
July 31, 200421 yr What are Choi's tools? He draws walks and has decent power. He also strikes out a lot. You know how many first basemen there are that can do that?

July 31, 200421 yr Stokes strikes out more, runs much slower and sucks defensively. Choi hit for average against minor leaguers even lefthanded minor leaguers.
July 31, 200421 yr I like this trade. Even though we gave up some good young talent, it was needed if we wanted to win. The Phillies and Mets all upgraded there team. If we didnt do the trades, the phillies and mets will easily go over us. Encarnacion is a good solid hitter and so is loduca. Now Conine moves to first base but we have one problem. Who is going to fill Brad's spot?
