Cliff, we don't need your pity

I for one have had it up to here with Cliff bad-mouthing the team and the owners and his crocodile tears, pitying us fans. I could puke.

For the record, Cliffie hit all of .214 in this series. Pathetic is what I call it. Hardly worth $6.5 million a year. I think its just fabulous the Mets are stuck with him for the next four years. You and Mo Vaughn are going to cost the Mets a winning season for years to come.

He and his agent tried to pressure the Marlins into paying him $10+ million a year by employing all his media buddies but the FO saw right through it and shipped his butt outta here. He never did a thing to bring us at least a winning season

Cliff, I used to cheer your every hit, I respected you until you started with this "pity" routine. You are belittling yourself.

I don't think he's quite that bad....but for god sakes show a little maturity Cliff. Sounds like a whining child who has to have the last word.

exactly i used to love the guy.... until he opened his pie hole... wow...

I was in the front row directly behind the Mets dugout tonight, and I have to give some credit to Cliffy. He was the only player that gave any somewhat acknowledgment that a fan was talking to him...

Whenever he came back int the dugout from the field, I would say something to him, and everytime he looked-up at me and noded. I said, "Cliffy, looks like your best friend (Lowell) just hit a HR to put us up... So now it's ok if you do it too..." He smiled, looked-up, noded, and went in the dugout...

If PPS was coors, then Id be missing wilson. I bet hed have less than 7 HRs and 25 RBI hovering around .244 with 10 sbs ( like the sbs make up for the sorryness) if he was still here! not to mention CJ... dont even go there

What a bum... gotta admire his conning skills though. same with vaughn, im surprised he isnt playing golf though.. i guess he feels like hes robbing the d. rays if he retires ..

Wayne....haha

Cliff Floyd is probably my favorite Marlin...I dont care what he says. I loved him as a Marlin, and hope one day he'll come back (much cheaper). And to his defense...doesnt everyone suck when they put on a Mets jersey (minus Piazza)? Mo? Burnitz? Floyd? Ordonez (look what he's doin in TB now)?

Ummm, wrong. Take a look at Wilson's home/away offensive splits before you open your yap. His production is nearly equal on the raod as it is at home. The fact that P-Dub got over his personal issues and is playing like an all star somewhere else is just one of those things you have to grin and bear.

Ummm, Piazza sucks at C. That's why they wanna move him to 1B every season. Your grandmother could steal on him, one of the worst cuaght stealing percentages EVER. If he were playing the last 4 games against the fish we would of sole 20 bases. Didn't we steal 7 or 8 in one game last time we played and Piazza was in the Lineup?

I agree with Filet to an extent.

It now appears that Preston's problems the last two years were of a personal nature rather than a professional one. For the record, the press knew about his divorce proceedings and decided among themselves to keep it out of the news. It's a good reminder that everything, absolutely everything you read (especially in sports) reported is agenda-based.

We fans can't be held responsible for d*mning Preston for the last couple of years when the press suppressed information that was (because it was a divorce proceeding) in the public record. It was a conspiracy of silence and it affects the press's credibility significantly. He would have been traded in any event, it was his outrageous salary as much as his underperformance and seeming lack of effort that demanded he be traded.

That he is having a good year isn't surprising. After what he went through a change of scenery would be the right medicine for anyone.

I don't miss the old Preston Wilson one bit. As for the new Preston Wilson, I wish him well (except against us of course :D ).

I always appreciated Preston's intense effort on the field....never thought he was dogging it...where did you get that impression? I had no idea he went through a nasty divorce...most likely the cause of underachieving...anyone who played high school sports and had something hanging over them knows its not easyto put it out of your mind.

Rememer Preston smashing into a brick wall in Wrigley...or him crashing into the catcher to score the winning run?? ( dont remember the team)

The Preston Wilson most fans remember is the strikeout king strut, walking back to the dugout, muttering to himself and for all the world giving the impression that he thought it was someone elses fault that he missed that curveball by three inches.

There were numerous newspaper and magazine articles alluding to Preston's teammates feeling he was not giving his all in centerfield and while I'll grant you he made many spectacular catches over the years and some memorable homeruns, but the 162 game Preston was a disappointment.

As I said, a change of scenery has helped him shed his demons and do well. I'm happy for him on a personal basis. Losing a newborn one year and getting a divorce the next will take a toll on anyone and I suspect he would have continued to underachieve here in south florida with all the familiar things and places as constant reminders.

we all know Piazza sucks at throwing runners out. But he is gonna be a hall of fame CATCHER..so, i cant say he really sucks. His bat is usually good, and he calls a good game as a catcher. Not bad defensively (no Gold Glove type defense, but not bad).

I am not a Piazza fan at all, and am not trying to defend him in the least bit...but come on....look at every facet of a guy's game before he says he sucks.

In 2001 he also lost his first child after it was born 3 months premature & died 10 days after birth. He certainly went through some awful personal times, I'm happy he's doing well in Colorado. But he was just too much of an all-or-nothing guy at the plate the last couple of years here....
