Marlins Trade summary

We had many holes walking into the Deadline and came oout with them all pluged.

look at the trade this way

Penny for Valdez , mota, Saneaz

He seop, Nunez for lo duca and enc

I think we did well. Fixed the catcher problem, got one very solid reliever and one reliever that can't be any worse than we've thrown out there, a fifth starter and a decent bat. Kudos!

wait, so is enc actually staying in our lineup?

not for long, once Cordero comes back, Enc will have a nice spot on the bench.

Ok, so we got Valdez, Seanez, Enc, LoDuca, and Mota...

yesterday I was pretty pissed. Very pissed actually. But, I'm kinda excited. I hope Valdez can perform.

I think 2 things are key to these trades

1) Encarnacion has gotta perform. this .235 s*** won't cut it.

2) Kinda indirect, but Beckett NEEDS to get back to his old self. I'm not putting much trust in Valdez (although I also am not guaranteeing he will suck), so we need Beckett to stay healthy and play like he did last year's 2nd half.

Our pitching staff will carry us, and with this revamped bullpen...the starting pitching needs to get us there.

Easley should start at first and COnine in left but whatever overall I think that Beinfest went out and did what he needed to do. He improved this team no matter how you look at it, and gave the chance to win. Now its up to the players.

Need I remind you of how bad Cordero sucked before his injury?

Well, I do know LA got royally screwed.

I'm pretty sure Encarnacion will be starting in right field. Cordero will be our guy off the bench to spot start at first and in the outfield.

I think we did a good job addressing our needs. We're all around more solid and our bullpen is lookin real good now. Got a premier catcher and solid defense in RF. I feel we are more of a contender now, not so many holes.

If we had gotten Walker, we would've been absolutely disgusting but I guess they just didn't have the time to haggle when they had to make all these other deals.

Btw..just about every critic says the Marlins did the best job trading..

i'm glad our bullpen has gotten better, but imo our offense hasn't improved at all.

Lo Duca over Redmond is a huge upgrade.

small sample size. More frequent playing time will lead to better performance for him, I believe.

And more knocking flyballs into Grand Slams?

He would be playing 1st base.

Cordero's OPS last year was 50 points higher than Encarnacion's last year, and Enc didn't have a terrible season like this year, last year.
