Brochy did not use him for more than 6 innings most of the starts, so it seems Jack is following the formula because of the success it has found Valdez.

August 8, 200422 yr Valdez was at his pitch limit where its been all year. You throw him out there for anotehr inning.....you risk him getting shelled. Stamina or what not.......you cant just go from throw about 80 pitches a start to a remarkably higher number...especially on 9 days rest. it dont work that way.
