Juan Encarnacion

If he keeps playing like this, its going to be hard to find anyone to take him in the offseason in a trade. As it is, we were the only team in the deadline (reported) that would accept him in a trade. They guy is playing lackadaisical - you could tell he's not giving his 110%. I hope he shapes up or the Marlins ship him out at the end of the season.

Juans bat is really hurting the team he gives away 6 outs per game, but on the other hand his D really helps us. You can't test his gun out there.

I said when the trade went down, it wouldn't take long before everyone else got tired of Enc. It actually took less time than I thought.

He'll be on the team next year, hopefully he will get back to his career averages. He will always be overpriced but he should be productive.

This has been a very bad year for him, and a change of scenery wasn't enough, an offseason might be.

I don't think he's playing lackadaisical necessarily, he always looks that way.

Encarnacion is struggling offensivley but his Defense isnt even though he made a mental mistake by throwing to home yesterday. Just give him some more games am sure he will start hitting better.

Many herein don't remember "The Sarge" or "Secretary of Defense," or all the other great defensive players who moved seemingly effortlessly to get to the ball.

I'm not saying Encarnacion is that calibre, but don't tell me he isn't giving 110%.

well remember he does have a bum shoulder and will most likely have surgery in the offseason

Ramp made a good point last night. What if Juan opts for surgery on his aching shoulder this offseason? No way we could find someone to take on his contract.

well, only a zombie at the plate, he's sick in the field... not 5 mil a year sick though

well he has been shaky with his arm so far

While that is true, you need to keep in mind that his bad shoudler is on his left side does not affect his bazooka arm at all. His bum shoulder definitely doesn't affect his playmaking abilities either, did you see that home run he robbed a few days before he was traded to us? :o

He said that his shoulder only bothers him when he's batting and gets jammed and his bat isn't as explosive as it was last year because of it.

i dunno, for what it's worth, looking at defensive stats, he's been pretty much in the bottom tier in all fielding statistics this season.

and offensively, of course, he is the worst-hitting starting corner outfielder in the league, bar none.
