Ramp's Crazy Idea....

So who is going to replace D Lee next season? Adrain is playing awful and Stokes is playing above average with below average defense in A-ball. And Raffy would only be a half year rental. I know you people will think I'm nuts for saying this, but sign Lee for 3 years and either trade one of the 1B prospects for pitching or just hope they pan out which isn't happening so far.

Raffy may be the half year rental that gets enough attendance to allow us to sign Lowell, or even put us in the playoffs.

And Banks or Stratton could take over 1B next season untill Stokes is ready.

OK. Say his stats go up a little bit. Like I said Lee is going to catch fire on this road trip and have a smashing 2nd half. Raffy is a half year rental.

Also just for later reference the term "clutch" does not exist and is not real. Ramp got me into this James character and I can't argue with his logic.

Hey, what baout Ramon Castro at 1B for those games he doesn't catch? :mischief2

Next year we could either put Redmond or Banks at first, and Castro as the starting catcher. There are tons of possibilites. A trade for Raffy could not at all hurt this team, but only help it. Period.

You seriously don't think the extra fans that will come out to see Raffy, which is debatable to begin with, will generate the revenue to pay Lowell. lol! The FO is either going to fork up the cash or not and the only thing keeping them from trading him NOW is we are starting to win. But will it carry past the chumps and slobs? We'll see.

Consider Lee a half year rental too, because he won't be here next year anyway. And you talk of lee having a great road trip, but he doesn't know this AL pitching. A great AL vet like Raffy knows this pitching better than anyone does. And although the word "clutch" may not be real, it is slang for performing to the fullest in a tough situation. Raffy can do that, Lee can't...

you can alway find a guy like Scott Spiezio or Scott Hatteberg to man 1st for a year

i hope DLee breaks out...we need him

If the trade helps us, if at all, the Rangers would never do it in the first place. They need pitching and will use all their trade bait to acquire talented young pitchers from teams trying to add that last piece for the run. Us swapping first basemen with the Rangers is not the final piece for this team nor will it give them what they want.

im kinda starting to turn my way here...

forget my idea

*should i delete thread*??

We would have payroll flexibility next year because of Rafi's free agency.

Plus an extra comp. draft choice, which really means we'd get Raffy and a prospect.

Isn't Lee also a FA or at least in the last year of arbitration?

If Lee doesn't break out then he still hits 25-30 homers and hits .260 and steals 30 bases. Not bad eh? If he does break I envision 40 homers while hitting .290

You know what Shamrock, Nunez can pitch for them. (He's an improvement to their staff) They can trade Lee and TH for more pitching if it is that important and keep Texeira at 1B (his native position).

No, this is one of the best debates of all time here... Keep it going...

Nunez is probably the worst pitcher to throw in 2003. You might to edit that post. :o
