Posted September 1, 200420 yr simple as it sounds Ichiro has 212 hits this year and has had 4 50+ hit months the record is 257
September 1, 200420 yr Not only will he break it, he will absolutely demolish the record with some outrageous number that won't be touched for a century.
September 1, 200420 yr he has played in 130 games and has 572 ABs. that's 4.4 ABs per game. if he follows his current AB pace and doesn't miss any games, he will have to hit roughly .331 for the remainder of the season in order to rack up 257 hits. its extremely hard to bank on someone hitting .331, but since he managed to hit well above .400 both in july and in august, i think he should be able to pull it off.
September 2, 200420 yr I think there's no doubt he will. He could be consider for MVP if he was on a little better team.
September 2, 200420 yr Won't be MVP but he is one hell of a player. I presonally underestimated him his first couple years. Didn't think he was that good. He's what Seattle needs right now since their record is so bad. At least fans have someting to cheer for
September 2, 200420 yr i dont think he'll break it. hes gonna have to be perfect from here on out. tough.
September 3, 200420 yr i dont think he'll break it. hes gonna have to be perfect from here on out. tough. 539149 mets fans only have half a brain. both of us combined have enough brains to predict the future accurately.

September 4, 200420 yr i dont think he'll break it. hes gonna have to be perfect from here on out. tough. 539149 Right now he is on pace to get 263 hits which more than breaks the record. He doesn't need ot be perfect to break it, he just needs to remain consistent and he has done just that throughout his entire career and thus he will undoubtedly break the record of 257 hits in a season.
September 5, 200420 yr The way he's hitting, I'd be shocked if he doesn't get it. He'd have to go on one hell of a "slump".
September 6, 200420 yr I hope opposing teams don't start to intentionally walk him...I want him to break the record. Wouldn't it suck if he was at 256 and he gets intentionally walked his last at bat of the year?!?
September 9, 200420 yr Author I wish he would Play for a Better Team 543952 ummm he has been playing for a really good team for the past couple of years ... too bad seattle got old too fast this year
