October 19, 200422 yr Author The smartest state in the union for the second consecutive year is Massachusetts. The dumbest, for the third year in a row, is New Mexico. These are the findings of the Education State Rankings, a survey by Morgan Quitno Press of hundreds of public school systems in all 50 states. States were graded on a variety of factors based on how they compare to the national average. These included such positive attributes as per-pupil expenditures, public high school graduation rates, average class size, student reading and math proficiency, and pupil-teacher ratios. States received negative points for high drop-out rates and physical violence.

October 19, 200422 yr Wow this is stupid, as in a six letter word for big fat waste of time. So, they took some marginalized test and the results are in, huh? I hope the unwashed masses are happy with where there state falls in line in order of smartest to dumbest. Did anyone get a perfect score? How did they determine this again?
October 19, 200422 yr I'm surprised Rhode Island is so far down the list, things there are pretty much equal to Massachusetts.

October 20, 200422 yr Do we rely on grade school students to make the country's toughest decisions? No, that's what old rich white guys are for. Everyone knows there's no smart New Jerseyans over the age of 17. Don't believe me? Go to a party at the nearest college campus.
October 20, 200422 yr Everyone knows there's no smart New Jerseyans over the age of 17. 597040[/snapback] Actually, there are tons of them. However, they were all smart enough to leave the state.

What state has the smartest people (percentage wise)? Who's more intellectual? Big deal. I know I'm smart. I don't need to follow the norm of my state. I know idiots from plenty of states. It's pointless studies like this that annoy me.
