November 19, 200421 yr No way Carl is worth 4 yr/$45mil....but if they Red Sox or Yankees are willing to pay it....... Carl would be foolish not to take it. If the best offer he receives is marginally better than what the Marlins offer, then I would hope Carl would stay with us. Loyalty in business only goes so far.

November 19, 200421 yr Greedy bastard. I can't wait until he gets shelled at Fenway. Personality-less arsehole. 616929 dont be dumb
November 19, 200421 yr Pavano is making the right choice, take the money. how many of you would turn down that type of offer? And in Boston he also has a chance of winning, even more so. As a player hes doing what he has to do. we're a small market team so long pavano use the cash to sign others
November 19, 200421 yr I don't blame Pavano. He has to make a career-earning out of this one good year and one FA shot. The comparison to Pudge seems a little off to me.
November 19, 200421 yr 617544 I agree pudge had already made buch of money compare to what pavano has earned to this point, I believe pavano has never made more than four million a year...Is not fair to compare his situation to that of pudge's
November 19, 200421 yr 617544 Yeah, because 32 million wouldn't put a nice dinner on the table every day.

Guys like pudge who's careers have reached their peak and have made the money should look at other things but hey, there choice not ours, all i do is cheer for whoever puts on that uniform for my team and when i see a guy that used to play for us, i tip my cap in thanks for what they did while they were here.

Usually, the more you make, the more you spend. Expenses always find a way to catch up to income. :confused
November 19, 200421 yr Pavano is considered the best SP in an offseason barren of SPs and many big-spending clubs looking for SPs. He'd be a fool not to take the cash although after everything he went through with Loria/Samson/Beinfest (btw, anyone think Rosenthal's dismissal had anything to do with Pavano opting for free agency?) you'd think he would have accepted that generous 3/21 or 4/32 offer. Makes you wonder what Pavano and other players think of a system that keeps them from free agency six years after their debut.
November 19, 200421 yr I'd offer him 4/38 and see if he takes that. 617729 Too much, espically when they are trying to lock up LoDuca and find a power LH.
November 20, 200421 yr I'd offer Pavano 8 years for a shiny new nickle, then sign somebody for less money. :whistle
