ARTEST IS GONE FOR THE YEAR!!!!!!

Featured Replies

The other issue is why did the other guys get suspended?

Four players were suspended for a game apiece: Indiana's Reggie Miller, and Detroit's Chauncey Billups, Elden Campbell and Derrick Coleman.

What the hell did Miller do? He tried to settle things down....maybe the old leaving the bench principle created by the Knicks/Heat incedent.

word is that the dude who got attacked by artest already got a lawyer. i hope the jury gets to see the video of the dumbass celebrating right until artest got to him and decides not to give him s***.

why he did nothing really.

at least nothing worthy of getting attacked.

619355

maybe he didnt throw the cup but the dude was loving what had happened and was talking a lot s*** up until artest got to him. yeah legally he probably has a valid claim but im just saying if i was in the jury i wouldnt give him s***. although it'll probably be settled before it ever gets to court.

so now you are entitled to get this s*** beat out of you for making fun of someone?

thats so middle schoolish.

He has a solid case for assault. Artest will have to settle that one.

619359

he'll probably sue the NBA and the palace as well claiming lack of security since theyre the really deep pockets.

Say goodbye to a title run.

Its amazing how Rocco Baldelli can get a beer thrown at him and all he does nothing but watch the fan get kicked out. Games missed: 0.

Then Artest responds to the same situation by punching the fan and misses the rest of the season.

Hmmmmmm, which one is smarter? :mischief2

619364

There's this big wall in the way between Rocco and the fan, however. Not only that, but he hadn't just gotten almost beheaded by a huge guy with a big hair.

30 games was enough to send a message. The whole season is overkill. But I'm not going to cry too many tears for Artest. I think Wallace should've gotten a bigger suspension. I guess objectively he didn't do anything more than previous 5 game suspensions, so maybe they felt compelled to leave it at 5.

exactly and i believe its for leaving the bench before artest snapped.

They left the bench during the initial fight.

nope, but how are you entitled for a complete lack of respect? he was right next to the guy who threw the bottle and was loving it and was talking all types of s*** thinking he was safe. yeah artest shouldve kept his cool but i dont feel bad for the guy at all.

still if you are attacked by someone for laughing at another that doesnt entitle someone to assault you. in a court of law this would never fly.

and as far as who threw the cup....there are numerous reports as to who threw it...i have heard that it was some lady wearing black and wasnt exactly near that guy.

i know that would never be allowed legally. im just saying that a jury doesnt always follow the law completely and if i was sitting on that jury i wouldnt give him s*** after watching the fan's reaction up until artest got to him.

im also looking at it like this: what type of message does that send to fans? its basically telling them "act like complete a**holes, get your ass kicked and make money."

but of course, this will never make it to court because it'll be settled.

depends on the side of the conflict your on in those cases.

imagine conseco fieldhouse on christmas when the pistons show up. i think they might have to cancel the sale of all alcohol for that game and take other actions to prevent another riot. no way in hell would i take a kid to that game.

So Detroit's fans just won the Eastern Conference Championship for the PIstons.

Such BS.

Fans should be punished in some way. This pisses me off so much.

NBA just alienated the fans of the Pacers. Those who have season tickets to the Pacers. They just spent an incredible amount of money for nothing.

I can't believe no one cares what these fans did. It is about time they got what they deserved. The fan that ran on the court deserved to be put in a coma. In baseball it is fair game if fans come onto the playing field. I don't see the problem with that part.

This is seriously unbelievable. So pretty much what they are saying that if you throw stuff at opposing players and try to really get them to attack you that your team will benefit because the other person will be gone for most if not all of the season.

the guy who threw the cup should be arrested.

The guy who got jacked by Jermaine O'Neal who was on the court should be arrested. Any fan throwing crap on players or was on the court should be arrested.

One fan threw one beer. He's a jerk fine. If Artest leaves it at that that's it. No more harm. But no. He had to go into the stands and turn this into a mess. And then other players had to go into the stands to fight, not pull Artest away. This was all brought on by Artest.

I can't blame Stern for doing this, he had to be harsh so that something like this never happens again.

I guess Artest gets that time off he wanted after all...

I'm sure the fan threw the cup at Artest to provoke him to run into the stands and attack 3 or 4 fans just so he would get suspended for the year and the Pistons would easily win the division.

Man, I know I would have done that.

If Artest didn't have such an incredibly short fuse and such rage there would have been no problem.

And yes, the fans who did run on the court did deserve to get something done to him.

:plain

Ya cause thats what I meant, but it is true and you cannot deny it. The Piston fans just won the East for them.

No, Artest, O'Neal, and Jackson lost the East for the Pacers.

Artest never had to retaliate in the first place.

But since he did, yeah, in a way the fans did screw the Pacers season.

The person who threw the cup and the fans on the court should be arrested.

Jackson should've got more I mean he wasn't really provoked to go up there in the first place!

helpin out his teammate...i got pumped up when i saw it

Amen, DetroitWhat.

I can't believe we have so many people in this world that thinks it's okay to take justice into your own hands. Artest got hit with a cup. His life wasn't in danger. If he would have restrained himself and let authorities handle it, none of this would have happen. Instead, he chose to go into the crowd and attack an innocent fan, setting off a riot. He deserves to suffer the consequences of his actions.

It's not about the playoffs, it's about punishing despicable player behavior. I can't believe there are so many shallow people that all they care about is the playoffs.
