Yes we should bring him back. What has D.Lee done for the team? We need someone like Conine who can drive in runs....we also need bullpen but we are so close to making the trade so the bullpen can wait untill after the trade is confirmed...

anyways i just read talks have cooled off..... so LEE stays he is on the pace to be a 30-30 man Conine cant do that all thou Conine is on the pace to drive in a 120 and lee is on the pace to drive in a 100...

 

Fact as I think we can get much more 4 lee after the season is done... you wanan trade em cuz $$$ reasons than do it in the off season, i think we need him as this Wild Card run progresses

Not surprisingly you're wrong again. On both counts.

 

Lee has a greater valuable to the acquirer if he is snapped up at mid-season than after the season. Any boob would understand why. He makes $4.25 mil this year, almost all arbitration estimates have him around $7 mil for 2004.

 

I'll explain so even you can understand it. Derricks combined salary for the two year period will be approximately $11.0 mil, or $5.5 mil per year. Sign him now and get the per season cost of $ 5.5 mil or sign him after the season and pay him $7 mil. Hmmmm, that's a $ 1.5 mil difference. I guess to a big spender like yourself a million and a half is chicken feed but to most GMs that's a nice chunk o' change to find in the street.

 

As for whether you would rather have 100 RBIs from Lee or 120 RBIs from Conine, your answer is almost laughable. I don't know about the other people here but I sure want EVERY RBI WE CAN GET between now and the end of the year. :banghead

I don't how high Lee's trade value will be next year considering he is a free agent at the end of the 2004 season. Theres no guarantee the acquirer will be able to sign him for 2005, he just might want to test the free agency waters.
