Stadium Article

In the top left of this picture, you can see the Miami Arena, which seems as though it is gaining strength as the leading possibility for a new stadium.

Well, that picture is at angle so the foregorund is larger, but yes, Miami Arena is a smaller site.

So the Miami Arena site is just distorted, and actually much bigger than pictured?

I heard in an article that Arriola isnt going to destroy the Miami Arena for a MLB Park.....so i dont think it will be a good idea to put the stadium there.

Here is part of todays article:

Arriola reiterated Wednesday the most realistic sites would be on the grounds of Miami Arena or nearby.

Thanks for labelling the map, Cape. What you labeled as Port of Miami is actually Bayside, the Hard Rock Cafe is the big circular buidling. Port of Miami is actually below the map, down the road that goes past AAA. No biggie, just thought Id point that out.

Ross, i know, but i couldn't find an arrow to point it out. You must cross the causeway to get to Watson Island (i believe) and the Port along with the Children's Museum and Parrot Jungle. So on the map, where the Port title is, that's Bayside.

Port of Miami is against the Ballpark being in Bicentennial Park because there is too much traffic going to be generated to have it there and maintain some sort of effeciency in the Port.

But envirnomentalists are all for it at Bicentenial Park, to clean up the Miami River.

Who wins between the two? :confused

To get to Watson Island, home of Parrot Jungle Island and the new children's museum, you would take I-395 (Mcaurthur causeway), the roadway north of Bicentennial Park that goes to South Beach. Port blvd. by the AAA only goes to the port.

that's right, i keep getting confused. i guess that's always why i have to double cluth in downtown to get to the auto show on south beach.

No, people supported the Miami River site because they would clean up the river, too. Bicentennial park is a separate site not on the river.

Bicentennial Park doesn't face the Miami River, it faces Miami Bay/Intracoastal.

Bicentennial Park would require Biscayne Blvd. to be moved out into downtown and to be put underground in a tunnel. The ballpark and green space would be on top of this tunnel and underground season ticket parking lot.

BTW...where do you park at the AAA?

AAA has an underground parking garage, but there are many lots in the area, ranging from $5-$15 on game nights, depending on proximity to the arena, myself, I just take Metrorail to governement center, then hop on the metromover.

If the land near the Miami Arena was used and the stadium was situated as it would have been in Bicentennial with right field to the south and left field to the east, then the Freedom Tower would be just beyond center field and the Miami skyline a little further in the distance beyond the outfield, could be very nice.
