If they need the money badly enough, they will...

build an aquarium

Not bad...

Travel time on tri-rail from Boca to metrorail: 1 hour

Travel time on Metrorail from tri-rail station to miami arena: 19 minutes

Not having to sit in traffic and search for parking: Priceless.

I told you guys that a done deal by November or December would be realistic.

They would play at the Teal Monster formerly known as Joe Robbie Stadium until a new ballpark is built. If they start construction in 2004, which they would under the time period the team has put forth, the ballpark would be done by Opening Day 2006.

???????

Teal Monster formerly known as Joe Robbie Stadium

isnt that the Pro?

i just dnt get it, thats still the same place we playing at, and the money would still go to wayne..

can you clearify what you are sayin cape?

Since it's Miami, how about Sedano's Field? :lol

Hey, who mentioned Victoria's Secret Stadium?

Imagine....they could get models to be the ushers. :)

Actually they'd probably just keep their same old ushers & make them wear lingerie..... Ugh, nevermind.

Odom, we will play at JRS/PPS until further notice. I call it the Teal monster formerly known as Joe Robbie Stadium since they are going to change it's name soon and I don't like it.

No thank you. I'd rather see it called H. Wayne Huzeinga Memorial Stadium before Sedano's Field, don't like Sedano's...go to Publix or Winn Dixie.

How can you not like Sedano's? :o

Easy, one bad package of meat into your system makes you very sick.

********Breaking news: Florida Gulf Coast University has been accepted by the NCAA to Division 2 play. Next step is hosting the Final Four at Alico Arena and TECO Arena, both brand new arenas that run on septic tanks. Gotta love the engineers out here, make anything happen. Now back to Marlins' Ballpark Talk.

Sry to get off-topic, but get this.

I'm at the Met's forum and they are trying to defend Shea as the best pitchers park in baseball...

dude im so confused

okay the lease is up in 2004, if we continue to play at the pro wayne will still make $$$ off the parking. What i am tryin to ask is there anywhere else we could possibly play and get the $$$ of the parking?????

or is this contract we are in forcing us to give money to wayne?

Let them think what they will, but the stats prove PPS, Dodger Stadium, and the Net in Oakland are the best pitcher's parks out there.

Odom,

On New Year's Eve every year, the Marlins make the choice to return to PPS for the year following the next.

i.e. New Year's Eve 2002 take option for 2004

They must do it every year to stay at PPS. If the Ballpark is due to be built for 2006 (break ground in 2004) then they commit up until 2005. They need a contract for the new park in order to leave PPS.

I did. I was making fun of all possible names... :w00t

Publix Park. "Where baseball is a pleasure". Haha, no that's awful.

Hell, there's enough Publix's in Florida to finance a million stadiums....

I still like the Bacardi idea. What else is based in Miami....

Carnival Field?

Lucent Stadium?

It could be any company with the $$$$$.

My top suspects are...

Bellsouth, FPL, Bank of America (who could help finance stadium and sell bonds), Citrix Systems, Lucent, Hewlett-Packard, JetBlue, Pepsi-Cola, PAX (yes they have $$$ and they are out of palm beach).

I could see Fox Sports Net get a studio in the ballpark for Craig to do pregame and postgame. I could see flagship station WQAM (or as I prefer WIOD) get studios in the ballpark like Rangers/KRLD in Texas, and expect a Friday's Front Row Grill (TGI Fridays in outfield) like Milwaukee does.

Basically you're saying Advertising ANYWHERE you can think of to generate more $...?
