Lee for Conine and Lightenberg?

Featured Replies

There is nothing to base this on, just my own pure wish. If we are going to deal LEe for Conine, I would be more comfortable trying to get Lightenberg included. Lightenberg is on the block, and could be another former Brave with a long last name and could give us more bullpen help. This would improve our offense and pitching at the same time. The best thing D Lee could ever do for us...what do you all think?

Instead of Benitez, go for Lightenberg...25/8 K/BB in 33.2 IP with a 3.21 ERA. Makes a cool $1MM and could be had cheap. We keep our prospects, gain a righty with heat... :whistle Also, only signed through this season...

"...Tony Batista could offer a contender some funky power. Jeff Conine can offer veteran poise and production. Buddy Groom is still a lefty, which means he's still a commodity. Starter Jason Johnson has good stuff but lacks a solid foothold in the Orioles' long-term plans.

If any of these deals can bring the Orioles younger players, it's time to pull the trigger.

Marlins first baseman Derrek Lee for Conine? It's tough to lose a quality player and person like Conine, especially a guy who can help teach young players the way it's done, but this is a 10-year age difference. Conine is 37, Lee is 27. This is what the Orioles are looking to do."

I'd love to pickup Jason Johnson in any trade with Baltimore.

absolutley

I brought this up in a baltimore orioles board and most of them said they would definetly do Conine and Lightenberg for Lee and Wayne. I know that doesn't mean much, just thought I'd bring it up.

Unfortunatley, according to the Sun-Sentinel, talks seem to have cooled between the O's and Marlins. Apparently, both teams are set (for now) with the 1st basemen they have.

If the O's would give us Johnson instead and maybe we throw in a prospect as well because hes a starter we could do the Penny trade and have his replacement. Of course if we really want a #1/2 type pitcher Ponson can be had if the O's fail to reach terms with him on an extension.

As long as we are in the race the deal will not be done...because our management knows Lee is better then Conan. :lol

Yea, one, two, or even three+ deals WILL be made by this team.

I guarentee you they're just waiting to play out the Expos series.

We could use Lightenberg as our set up guy if w dont get Armando Beniez....with our bullpen struggling Mightly we need a reliever. So he can help us but i think the Marlins just want to deal Conine for Lee...
