January 15, 200521 yr Nothing earth-shattering here. Palm Beach Post: Four Marlins file: Pitchers Josh Beckett, A.J. Burnett, Tim Spooneybarger and Guillermo Mota were among the 89 major leaguers to file for arbitration Friday. Arbitration hearings are Jan. 31-Feb. 19. The Marlins, though, expect to reach deals with all four players, possibly long-term with Burnett. Beckett made $3.03 million last season, Burnett made $5.038 million, Mota made $4.159 million and Spooneybarger made $2.163 million. Marlins hire Romero: Ed Romero, who lives in Wellington, was hired this off-season as the Marlins' infield coordinator. Romero, who held the same position with the Brewers, will assist the Marlins at the major-league camp and work with infielders during the season while traveling to the minor-league sites. Romero played shortstop for 12 seasons with the Brewers, Red Sox, Braves and Tigers.
