February 9, 200521 yr JP has become a very notable and recognized player throughout the country. Since coming to the Fish in '03, we've all noticed an increase in national attention that he has received. From finishing 9th in all-star voting two years ago, to being considered a top OF by many analysts, Juan has steadily gained a spot among the more prolific names in baseball. I'm not saying that he's reached all-star status, or that he's even reached his peak. What I'm inferring is that the name recognition that he has been receiving could propel him into a potential all-star berth. It'd be hard, considering the outfield competition in the NL (and his painfully obvious average arm), but I think it's possible if he can put up similar numbers as the past few seasons (slightly better, of course). Honestly, I think we could have (theoretically) five all-stars this season: Castillo Lowell Cabrera LoDuca Pierre (and possibly a SP) Just my thoughts...

For instance, at 1B Thome and Pujols are almost locks. Burnett and Beckett haven't had a successful year yet, and barring injury--yes, they have potential. That's why I said it was possible for SP at the end of my message. Gonzalez won't get in for obvious reasons, unless his average skyrockets to .300 (That would be nice)

Gonzalez has a great chance IMO. He should have made in 2003... he got robbed that year.

You don't have to convince me of anything concerning Gonzalez. I think he's a stud. But apprently, the rest of the nation doesn't.
February 9, 200521 yr Sadly, Alex has a better shot than Lowell. The NY market is going to stuff the ballot for David Wright.

February 9, 200521 yr He is the best leadoff man in the league and second best in all of baseball behind Ichiro.
February 9, 200521 yr A.J. Burnett is on a mission this year. It's his contract year, and he wants to cash in! Look for him to have a career year, as did Pavano in his contract year. Bold prediction: AJ Burnett will start the All-Star game in Detroit for the National League. I think he's gonna have a heck of a year, if he can stay healthy.

February 9, 200521 yr Delgado could have a better year than Thome. The only lock ahead of Delgado is Pujols.
February 9, 200521 yr I know that we notice everything JP does, but I dont know if anybody else will when you have other outfielder that go into the break with over 20 homers, but I hope that he makes it.
February 9, 200521 yr He is going to steal a good amount of bases and play the solid defense he continues to play. He WILL/SHOULD make it this year...IMO.
February 9, 200521 yr Only ones I see right now is Lowell and Cabrera. Delgado may have a slow start due to getting adjusted to the NL.
February 9, 200521 yr The only reason JP gets recognition is because fantasy baseball geeks like me worship the amount of steals he gets because they're so hard to come by. :mischief
February 9, 200521 yr Author Only ones I see right now is Lowell and Cabrera. Delgado may have a slow start due to getting adjusted to the NL. 681066 Castillo is pretty much a lock. He made it the two years prior to last year. The only reason he missed it last year was becasue his first half numbers were pretty average. But he should be back to his old self, and it's pretty much a sure thing (as long as he doesn't bomb again). And LoDuca should make it, because he always has very strong first-halfs, and he really is a top 3 catcher in the NL.
February 9, 200521 yr Besides the fact we are guaranteed a spot, I dont see us having a true "lock" 681117 castillo this year :whistle

Only one who I'd consider taking ahead of Castillo is Mark Loretta.
