July 16, 200322 yr deal and the Mantei deal??? hmmm I thought I throw that out there. Penny was a top prospect, VNunez was another top prospect( :lol ) and we stole Abe Nunez. So Ken Rosenthal( a Cubs fan by the way) is so caught up we us and he seem to have a forum on our team on a weekly bases. I didn't know the baseball world revolved around us. It seem everybody is trying the hardest to bring this team down. I was in my car today driving around town. I thought I'd hear about the Marlins chances or what a good position the Marlins are in with this homestand coming up with all those playoff team coming here. NOOOOOO, I heard that fat toad bring a up a stadium talk and the guy that asked the ? was so down when this idoit brought out his sources :lol about the situation and at the end he tells this Marlins' fan "I'm sorry to bring you down" NO your not...but again WHY?? O I know its July and his trying to put the Marlins on the back page..hmmm This blimp can't stand the fact this team is making a run at this WC. Thank God I don't have to listen to that moron everyday but its a shame those clause fans that are swayed by this guy negative views. :confused JUST KEEP WINNING BABY!!! :marlins
July 16, 200322 yr Well I don't know who else would actually do this, but I do listen to spanish radio from time to time and they usually have glowing reviews for the Marlins. We could be 0-162, they'll always have something good to say. It's ppl like those that should be in the mainstream, not the WQAM idiots.
July 16, 200322 yr The Diffrence between Mantei and Urbina is that Mantei has been in the DL most of the time since going to Arizona, and when he comes back he has not being what he used to be. But you cant say Urbina will get injured or not. Those things just happen.

We could be 0-162, they'll always have something good to say. It's ppl like those that should be in the mainstream, not the WQAM idiots. WQBA is a real radio station, WQAM isn't. It has no community appeal outside of airing the play by play of the local teams. I would like to see the Marlins and Panthers jump to WIOD and see the Heat jump to WQAM so they can talk Heat and Dolphins all year long. You can talk Marlins and Panthers on WRFX 940 and listen to them on WIOD. WRFX talks positively about the Marlins and are pretty objective when I have listened to them.
July 16, 200322 yr Author AJ I don't understand what you mean but Mantei being injuried has nothing to do with what his value was... at the time the Marlins trade for him. Hey desperate teams do desperate things. LA last year was being riped because of the top talent they trade away for Shuey and others. This year there GM has played it a little better. Did the Marlins overpay? YES did they have the talent to overpay without effecting his future? time will tell but the talent is there to replace those that were trade Is this the worse deal ever? NO This team just didn't want to lose there chance at a guy they really want. 8 teams were hard after Urbina. They thought they would have to overpay. Who would you rather have Benitez or Urbina? What I don't understand is WHY everything this team does is magnified in a so called small market..IS this NY?
July 16, 200322 yr because Mantei's value has droped big time since that trade. I thought you were saying the that same would happen to Urbina.
July 16, 200322 yr Urbina and Mantei are not very comparable. Urbina has done other things than close well, while Mantei has been a good closer most of his career.
July 16, 200322 yr Lets also remember Urbina did well in a hitter's league, and on hitters park. Now he's coming to a pitcher's league on a pitcher's park. I see Urbina doing very well. Also remember thats this writers never metion that the team has the option on keeping him.
July 16, 200322 yr I'd rather be the team that couldn't that did like we are this year, than be the team that could and didn't like the Mets.
July 16, 200322 yr Let them keep the bad press, 20,000-30,000 people at each game this weekend doesn't lie, people believe in this team.
July 17, 200322 yr WQBA is a real radio station, WQAM isn't. isnt WQBA in spanish??...or is that something else? :mischief2
July 17, 200322 yr Let them keep the bad press, 20,000-30,000 people at each game this weekend doesn't lie, people believe in this team. The more people that come out, the more positive calls to the station, the more positive talk by the hosts. It's one big chain reaction. :shifty
July 17, 200322 yr WQBA is a real radio station, WQAM isn't. isnt WQBA in spanish??...or is that something else? :mischief2 WQBA is in Spanish and owned by Hispanic Broadcasting Company part of Univision.
July 17, 200322 yr Our 10,000 ppl a game attendances are now officially over....i think :whistle :shifty
July 17, 200322 yr We are averaging 13,000 per game. If we get 20,000 at least for every game this weekend we may go up to 14,000-16,000 per game average.
July 17, 200322 yr Our 10,000 ppl a game attendances are now officially over....i think :whistle :shifty Too soon to say. But keep in mind, we just went through an extreamely difficult stretch of hard teams and went 6-3. I now have tons of confidence in this team, and I think we can win. IF we do keep on winning, then we will kepp getting relitively big crowds...

I now have tons of confidence in this team, and I think we can win. IF we do keep on winning, then we will kepp getting relitively big crowds... ...which will lead to more money....which will lead to being able to keeping players that are too expensive for us now..(Luis etc)...maybe.
July 17, 200322 yr If attendance keeps going up the FO will spend money in the off season but the fans fans have to their part first.
July 17, 200322 yr If attendance keeps going up the FO will spend money in the off season but the fans fans have to their part first. They won't spend more money, and if they do not much more. They will lose money as it is, so why would they raise payroll?
July 17, 200322 yr They won't spend more money, and if they do not much more. They will lose money as it is, so why would they raise payroll? To get the new ballpark they want. You have to show commitment in order to get it.
July 17, 200322 yr Urbina and Mantei are not very comparable. Urbina has done other things than close well, while Mantei has been a good closer most of his career. What EdCanes is saying is: Why is it when Arizona traded a bunch of good prospects for a stud closer (Mantei) nobody bashes them, but now when the Marlins do it, they're crazy? He's not asking the difference between Urbina and Mantei as pitchers right now, he's talking about the situations when the deals happened. And if you think Urbina is more established than Mantei, then EdCanes point is even MORE solid. Good point Ed.
July 17, 200322 yr thank God HC just straightened that out (although it was pretty clear what was meant by Ed)
July 17, 200322 yr And if you think Urbina is more established than Mantei, then EdCanes point is even MORE solid. Good point Ed. Exactly what I'm saying, we got the AL saves leader for crying out loud. Mantei has been injured too much, but Urbina hasn't been injured at all basically for a while now. Mantei pitches in a neutral park, while Urbina pitched in a hitter's park. Sorry Ice Man, but Advantage Urbina.
