What should be considered the home run record?

Featured Replies

61 ofcourse.

73...There's no question.

A lot of changes have taken place in baseball and continue to do so. These changes can't have anything to do with records, or the record books would be so full of crap.

LOL, I can't believe some of you guys voted for Sosa but not McGuire... must the couple of resident Cub fan boys on here.

Anyways, there needs to be an asterisk next to Bonds' 73. Roger Maris is the only one who achieved it legitimately.

there's a problem with everyone who's hit at or above 60

McGwire, Bonds, Sosa: 'roids

Maris: longer season

Ruth: a right field porch that juan pierre could've teed off on

nothing is perfect

73 is the most. Deal with it.

EXACTLY Deal with It. 73 is the higher than 70, 66, 61, even 60 go figure.

if you wanna start putting asterisk next to Bonds, you gotta go down the list and give asterisks down the list, and the the top 5 looks like this:

1. Harmon Killebrew 49 (1964)

1. Frank Robinson 49 (1966)

3. Eddie Mathews 46 (1959)

4. Ernie Banks 45 (1959)

5. Harmon killebrew 45 (1963)

This is removing anyone:

1. that's ever used or has been speculated to use the following:

steroids or any similar substance

any illegal stimulant

2. anyone season during the amphedamine era, crack era, or the steroid era

3. anyone that benifited a lot from the park they played in

4. anyone that corked their bat

5. any season prior to baseball being fully integrated (1959)

6. any expansion year

Anyone that benefitied from a ballpark? Expansion? Integration?

How is this illegal?

He isnt saying its illegal but that these had players an unfair advantage.

The factors I listed dont balloon your HR totals...and you are never going to convince me otherwise...Mays is just an ass...Bonds could confess at the kid's house and he still wouldnt believe his childhood idol was juiced up.

i hate copying other people's posts, but when they say it perfectly, I have to:

Show me the proof (Bonds) did anything ILLEGAL.

Its barry bonds...its his record. Yes he took steroids but how do we know if he knew about it or not. another thing is if he did know look at the pressure he has got on him with his dad being bobby bonds and he has also got willie mays with him now. Thats alot of pressure.

Its between Maris and Bonds...its like 50/50

Show me the proof (Bonds) did anything ILLEGAL.

He ADMITED to a grand jury that he took steroids, what the f*** more proof do you want?

You have the biggest case of homerism in all of pro sports.

1. Show me the footage or audio of him admitting it

2. Regardless, what he alledgedly did (THG, which is not steroids) was not illegal at the time.

STEROIDS WERE NOT ILLEGAL IN BASEBALL UNTIL THIS YEAR...BLACKS WERE NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY BASEBALL UNTIL 1947...FENCES IN SOME CASES WERE LESS THAN 300 FT...PITCHING HAS GOTTEN BETTER OVER THE YEARS...THE MOUND USE TO BE HIGHER...In baseball things change, so unless you have 50 different stipulations per record stop being a Bonds hater.
