Anyone got the goods on where the best deals are at and what the best models are? Brick and mortar or internet store? Usage would proabably be storage for music, class projects, and other non-gaming type stuff, but if it could play a decently advanced game that'd be fine as well. 512MB of SDRAM is a must. Helping my cousin do a little shopping.

Best place I've found so far is tigerdirect.com

I have a Dell Inspiron 600m and am loving it. One thing you need to find out is how much they weigh. Lugging heavy laptops back and forth sucks.

frankly, i dont care about weight personally. i've lugged stuff much heavier than laptops around before.

but ya, getting the weight is generally a good idea.

I want one as well....I have to save up though. I'm not getting it for a desktop replacement, just a suppliment that I can watch dvd's from, play some cheezy games, do some work and get online when I'm away from home.

i just bought myself an alienware desktop, so im selling my old laptop. if anyone is interested or has any questions, PM me or send me an IM at subtledagger4501

Dell Inspiron 4150

768 MB SDRAM

1.8 Ghz Pentium 4 Processor

30 GB Hard Drive

8x Dvd Optical Drive

Windows XP With Service Pack 2

Im selling it with or without a docking station and monitor stand, whatever you want. Make me an offer, and Ill consider it. If no one on here buys it, Ill just sell it on ebay, but I would rather not have to.

Thanks.

Don't purchase anything from TigerDirect with rebates.

706851

why?

706969

You won't see your rebate money. Go to the BBB (Better Business Bureau website) & see how many complaints are there on TigerDirect, trust me, TigerDirect Rebates is always a no-no. You can check for deals on a website such as forums.anandtech.com although you won't see any TigerDirect deals there, with rebates atleast.
