I have no regrets because we got Urbina for him and won the World Series but maybe we should have traded Stokes instead. So far this spring Adrian Gonzalez is 15-38 (.395 BA, 2 HR, 11 RBI). He is going to be another good Texas hitter in that lineup.

Maybe you don't remember, but the Marlins signed a proven MVP-caliber first basemen. :mischief

Delgado > Adrian will ever be...

Texas may not have taken stokes instead of adrian. Be content in knowing that that trade helped us win it all and there may have not been any other way to get it done

I am happy that Adrian is doing well, but thats the price you pay to win a world series. Look at all the prospects we've traded. Only Adrian has any real top prospect grading left. Levinski and Bautista we all know have fallen miserably. And I haven't heard anything about Snare since that trade. I think all in all, Gonzalez would be a big loss if we didn't sign Delgado, but we signed Delgado. Adrian would've never been able to play first base in our organization because of that.

Really can't dwell on that. The whole point of sports is to win the championship, so you really can't worry about the consequences.

That's happened to a lot of prospects. Including some of the prospects we've kept.

Stokes was the second best offensive prospect in baseball going into the 2003 season (behind only mark Texiera). Granted, his stock had fallen off a little by July, but not much... There's a reason we traded Gonzalez.

I think Adrian is going to be a fantastic player, bu they're still waiting for his power to develop. That's not a good sign.

Of all the prospects we have traded lately, only Adrian Gonzalez and maybe Travis Chick will come back to haunt us. That's about it.

The point that we should have traded Stokes instead is a good one. Gonzalez has really blossomed and Stokes is.....well about the same.

Perhaps Texas' scouts predicted correctly that would happen and/or the Marlins' scouts did not.

Please tell me how Gonzalez has "blossomed"? There numbers better than his at his level all over the place...

I dont think that this should be talked about based just on his spring training stats. I think until he gets it done at the big show than the Marilns made out better in the trade because of the fact that we were holding up that World Series trophy in October.
