I think they are in the bottom of the ninth. Let's hope they can hold on....

We win 3-2. We had 11 hits and 2 errors. The Muts had 7 hits and 2 errors. Mecir picks up the win and Nate Bump picks up the save.

Final Marlins 3, Mets 2

Port St. Lucie, FL (Sports Network) - Alex Gonzalez' three-run homer in the

eighth inning helped lift Florida over the New York Mets, 3-2, in Grapefruit

League action on Wednesday.

Jim Mecir, who worked one frame of relief of starter Ismael Valdez, earned the

win. Valdez allowed one run on four hits in six strong innings for Florida,

which cranked out 11 hits. Nate Bump surrendered a run in the ninth, but

settled down to notch his first save of the spring.

Victor Diaz and Kaz Matsui each drove in a run for New York. Jose Santiago,

who allowed Gonzalez' homer, was saddled with the loss. New York starter Keith

Ginter worked three scoreless innings in the setback.

http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...t=.jsp&c_id=flaPORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- A three-run home run by Juan Encarnacion against Jose Santiago in the eighth inning lifted the Marlins to a 3-2 exhibition victory against the Mets on Wednesday.

Victor Diaz laced an RBI double in the ninth to cut the deficit to 3-2, but the Mets were unable to tie it against Nate Bump, who saved the game for winning pitcher Jim Mecir (1-1). Santiago (1-1) was charged with the loss.

Marlins starter Ismael Valdez limited the Mets to one hit in the first five innings, then allowed three in the sixth when Kaz Matsui singled home Jose Reyes, who had doubled.

Encarnacion's first homer of the spring came after Matt Ginter and Aaron Heilman, each vying for a long relief spot in the Mets bullpen, had shut down the Marlins. Ginter, who hasn't allowed a run in 14 innings this spring, pitched three scoreless innings before veteran Felix Heredia pitched the fourth.

Heilman then pitched effecfively in the fifth and seventh, having pitched out of error-induced jeopardy in the sixth. He retired Alex Gonzalez and Matt Treanor with the bases loaded in the sixth.

Heredia had retired the last two batters in his inning with runners on second and third.

The Marlins had lost four straight and seven of eight
