Did the opening day exceeded your expectations?

Featured Replies

It surely did to me, I did not think the Marlins would just blast and shut out the Braves this way. Encarnacion does not cease to amaze me, I still don't know why people look down on this guy, he's a great overall player and I expect him to have a breakout season this year (mark my words). Carlos Delgado debuted with a BANG! the guy was all over the place and I'm glad, I hope he keeps it up. Loduca, Lowell & Cabrera were solid as well. The only flaws I saw were the starting pitching, Beckett didn't look as sharp as in ST but at least he managed to keep the ball inside the park and not allow any runs. I still think he still needs to work on his command a bit and try to not overpower his pitches. The bullpen looked amazing, I think this years bullpen is gonna play a huge part and it looks 100% better than last year. My only concern is Mota closing, I really hope the guy can assume that roll and do good. Other than that it was an awesome game and a perfect opening game, I'm sure all of the fans at the stadium got their money's worth, now let's keep it up FISH!!!!! :thumbup

This is a very bad day for people who have Smotlz on their fantasy team.. . I was expecting something like a 2-1 Marlins win. :confused

How could it not exceed anyone's expectation?

It was a tremendous start for Beckett, Encarnacion, Delgado, Lowell.........

The only way today could have been better was if it was Delgado who hit the grand salami instead of ENC.

In my mind - the biggest thing today that exceeded my expectations was the play of Encarnacion. Miggy, JP, Delgado, Lowell, etc....they're ALL gonna hit. If either Encarnacion or SeaBass make serious strides this year, this lineup in LOADED. I think Encarnacion is horrible - but he shut me up today...and I'm hoping he continues to do so for the rest of the season. BTW, his defense was HUGE in the first inning.

I can't wait for tomorrow :D

Mecir looked like he had nasty stuff, and Jones was very solid as well.

Mota did allow the back-to-back singles, but Alex rescued him with a real sweet DP on a softly hit ball. Give Mota credit for inducing the grounder.

We won and didn't exhaust the bullpen so I'm pleased.

I was very surprised Jack pitched Mota in the 9th.....with a 9 run lead. Guess he just wanted to get him going in a non-pressure situation.

does the pope s*** in the woods?

Omg when they had a moment of silence for him and some guy in left field screamed, "Go Marlins!!" or sumthing like that, I was like wow. :banghead
