They are negotiating a contract with Mortenson, a Minneapolis-based construction firm, to be construction manager on the $420 million ballpark east of the Orange Bowl. It will take minimum 4 years to get the Ballpark built. If they dont get the money this year, they may get it next year or the year after. Im sure 30 million isnt too hard to find somewhere.

April 11, 200521 yr Marlins have spent millions already doing the plans for this ballpark on the site next to the Orange Bowl. Moving will mean wasting this money. I see a Plan B that is being kept way in the cellar just in case.

Dade County wants the ballpark at the price because they want it to be impressive since the County will own it. I think we could see them sign (an)other tenant(s) long-term to bring in the extra $30 million.

Although if soccer does return to South Florida I bet MLS's first choice would probably the OB. Arena Football would probably rather play at the AAA, ODC, or maybe the Miami Arena. NCAA tournaments could also be held at the new park.
