April 13, 200520 yr Remember: ballpark readings are inflated for the fans' enjoyment 740472 Correct, just ask Brad Penny. :whistle
April 13, 200520 yr His highest at the park was 100, and he hit 99 several times. Parkwise he hit 98 twice in the ninth inning against Jim Thome, and 97 several times in that inning.
April 13, 200520 yr According to BBTN, Burnett never went to a 2-0 count to a hitter the entire night. :o
April 13, 200520 yr Have fun in New York next year AJ. 740506 is this necessary every f***ing thread?
April 13, 200520 yr Have fun in New York next year AJ. 740506 is this necessary every f***ing thread? 740514 Well him doing good is a double edged sword. We need him to do good. But the better he does the more he is going to cost. We already failed to sign him long term, and if he keeps putting up games like this, he isn't getting any cheaper. So yeah, do good AJ, but like 3.89 ERA, 7Ks per 9 kinda good.

Russ Ortiz not so good... but Ortizzle is making what this year 8? Thats what we are paying Al, so if we resigned AJ for that its a wash.
April 13, 200520 yr According to BBTN, Burnett never went to a 2-0 count to a hitter the entire night. :o 740505 Never threw 4 balls to anyone either. :thumbup
April 13, 200520 yr This is a quote from a chat with Sports Writer Rob Neyer. Yousef (Jerusalem): A.J. Burnett is going to be a free agent after the year, does he need a big year to get the big paycheck? Rob Neyer: Based on 1) what we saw this winter, and 2) the death of high-quality starters who will be free agents next winter, I suspect even a dozen wins will make Burnett an incredibly wealthy young man. I would have to agree that no matter what, Burnett will cost too much for us next year. So I say forget about that, let's enjoy it while we got him.
April 13, 200520 yr Naw I hope AJ has an ERA under 2 this year and wins 20 games, thus leading us to a good playoff run and possibly a pennant. Even if he cant come back next year, the point of baseball is to win the championship, and if burnett helps us this year, who cares if he leaves next year.

It seems like every thread you respond to, you have to come with your little sour comments.
April 13, 200520 yr Remember: ballpark readings are inflated for the fans' enjoyment 740472 Actually, they're not. On Saturday, there was a scout sitting one row in front of me and I was able to see his radar reading, and our radar gun was consistently 1-2 MPH slower than the scout's gun. Just FYI...
April 13, 200520 yr Author However, I doubt that radar gun is correct. :cowboy 740698 Actually I remember at one point a few years ago Torborg said he told them to make the gun read lower than what it was for Brad Penny's starts, because he kept looking up at it after every pitch.
