the way hes looked lately i wouldn't feel comfortable with him coming into a 1 or 2 run game in the 9th

Agree. But have to let him pitch and make a move once he blows 2 or 3 saves.

The stuff is there, but location is not. He is getting hit hard when he is behind hitters in the count

Still 5-16 in save oppurtunities for his career

yes...

look at it...

:mischief

Let's see Mota get some regular work and save opportunities before a decision is made.

agreed. There will be times when he blows games this season. I just hope he can get enough work in where those times are few & far between. He hasn't gotten a lot of opportunities yet.

i didn't see what happend tonight but recently he's been getting beat on his offspeed pitches. closers are supposed to get beat with their best stuff, the hard stuff. he needs to throw that damn fastball.

File that under U for useless. His only save opportunities were when he blew the lead or filled in for Gagne. He rarely did either so not only is the sample size too small to draw conclusions but the data is flawed to begin with.

He'll be fine. He probably just needs regular work to keep his arm in shape and mind in the game.

I'm not sold on Mota yet and the few appearances we've seen of him this season have not given me any additional faith. I think he definetly needs more work but he (and most of the pen) scare me.

I cant make a judgement on Mota until he actully comes in for a save situation, because like they closers seem to be different pitchers when they come in for the save.

I think we should actually see him in a save situation before we rush to any judgement

ESPNEWS should him with the save when I was watching it this morning. It was a 3 run game (6-3).

...Which does not make it a save. A save is given when there is a three run lead or less. There are some instances when a save can be given with a four run lead, but they don't occur when a pitcher comes in to start an inning.

ESPN had a typo then. The Marlins are the only team without a save.

You get a save with a 3 run lead or less.

You can also get a save with a 4 or 5 run lead if the tying run is on deck.. and you can also get a save if you pitch the last 3 innings of a game.
