Posted May 29, 200519 yr with all the hype he's gotten for doing things that nobody has done in such a long age, all of a sudden guys his age and younger are better...right now Adam Dunn and Miguel Cabrera are the two best players in the 25 and under category...Also, guys like David Wright is right on his tail and Mark Texeira, Joe Mauer, and Hank Blalock will eventually pass him up in a year or two... Pujols peaked at such a young age...he will be one of the best in the game for years to come, but don't expect him to get any better than he is now...for the long term, i would take any of those guys over him discuss BTW, the reason why I removed Cabrera from these polls is because since it's a Marlins board, he would win in a landslide
May 29, 200519 yr i agree with you that pujols may have peaked already, but that's pretty good and he's durable, so he's gonna be giving you those numbers for a while then i'd go dunn, then wright
May 29, 200519 yr I would choose Dunn second to last...Mauer being last. If I was building a franchise, I would start with young and talented pitching, not hitting. Good pitchers are tough to find.
May 29, 200519 yr I'd take Albert ANY DAY of the WEEK over these players. Then I'd take Cabrera.. Let's see.. Albert Career on AVG: Years: 4 (not counting this year) AVG: .344 Hits: 203 HR: 40 RBI: 126 RBI Runs: 125 2B: 47 BB: 76 (304) K: 69 (279) He's well on his way to having another year like that.. I'll take that any day of the week of ya ask me.. Sure he may have hit his prime but quite frankly if he can continue to do that your gonna be watching something special for year's to come. With that said, he's gotta stay healthy.

May 29, 200519 yr How isnt Cabrerra on there? Best pure HR is Dunn, he maybe the best homerun hitter not named Bonds in the entire league, best all around hitter is Pujols.
May 29, 200519 yr Why is Cabs not on this poll? How can you list a guy like David Wright but not Cabrera?

May 29, 200519 yr BTW, the reason why I removed Cabrera from these polls is because since it's a Marlins board, he would win in a landslide For those who hate scrolling up
May 29, 200519 yr Pujols easily...and I think I would even pick him if Cabrera was included in the poll...it depends on if I was in a biased mood or not.
May 29, 200519 yr I'm surprised Lance Niekro or Tony Torcato aren't on this list  A give a write in vote for Justin Morneau
May 29, 200519 yr Pujols                                      Teixiera Cabrera        Other doods
May 29, 200519 yr Pujols is easily the best on the list, hands down. He's proven. 2nd place is close, between Teix and Dunn. I'd go with Teix, since Dunn K's so much. Blalock in 3rd .. Mauer ..    Wright ..
May 29, 200519 yr I'd take Justin Morneau over anyone on this list not named Albert Pujols, Adam Dunn, Miguel Cabrera, or David Wright.
May 29, 200519 yr How anyone can even debate taking one of these guys over Pujols is INSANE. The numbers don't lie and he is so young. To me, it's more of a feeling that some of you guys take his greatness for granted. The scary thing is, 'you' all are probably the more knowledgable and bigger baseball fans of America too. David Wright is 2nd on this list in voting. He is a great player and is only 22. He is on pace for a .299AVG, 25HR, 92RBI, 482B, 111K. Just to show you how amazing Pujols is and to put something in prospective: At 21, Pujols hit .329, 37HR, 130RBI, 472B, 93K. And he has not tailed off since either.

He's way better than everyone else on that list. That means that the people who didn't vote for Pujols are either stupid, or biased.
May 30, 200519 yr Pujols here  Cabrera close but not quite, over here  David Wright here as the poor man's Miguel Cabrera (seriously, they're the same player cept Miguel has slightly better numbers off the top of my head in their big league time) Teix right here, along with Mauer  Everybody else So I'm actually gonna say why: - Pujols is amazing, end of story. - If you remove Pujols from the field, Miguel is far and away the best hitter. Not being homeristic here, but I've seen all these guys play quite a bit and no one has the presence at the plate that Miguel does. Nobody here (again, other than Pujols) can say they are Manny Ramirez with more power. He's that good. Wright is also very good, not quite on Miguel's level, but almost. If Miguel is 5 star at the plate by the time his career is over, Wright is 4.5. - Teix and Mauer are very good as well. I like Mark cuz he can add in some actual hitting with his unhuman power, but I'm not 100% sure he's going to be all that and a bag of chips for years to come. Mauer is the real deal, he's what you want from your catcher - calls a great game, very good arm, gold glove talent + he's the best hitter on the Twins, which is just an added bonus on a team that has some solid bats. His problem however is his knees, he won't be playing catcher for much more than 5 or 6 years even though he'd be extremely valuable there. He gets rated high for me because finding a great fielding and great hitting catcher in one body is damn near impossible (maybe 2 a generation, can you name a great hitter and fielder right now at C other than Pudge?) - Blalock isn't the best hitter on his team, that's Teix. Plus solid third baseman aren't very hard to find. - Morneau is a good bat, but not on the same platform with Pujols, Cabrera, Wright, Teix, and Mauer. - I'm not sold on Dunn like everyone else is. Yeah yeah yeah he's country strong, hits the ball a mile, gets on base, and doubles alot. So? He's Cecil Fielder without the weight problem, and those guys are not hard to find. I can see at least three guys from this list making the Hall of Fame, maybe more, and Dunn isn't in that category.
