Posted June 2, 200519 yr Here are some people I think should replace Bill Robinson. (In no particular order) -Tony Gwynn (I'd die) -Tony Perez -Andre Dawson - Ted Williams's frozen head
June 2, 200519 yr I'd take Ted Williams' frozen head over what we have now...it's not possible for every player in our lineup (for the most part) to be slumping, is it? :banghead :banghead :banghead

June 2, 200519 yr Damn, it is Bill Robinsons fault that our pitching sucked ass tonight 792307 ooh oooh... how about our defense!
June 2, 200519 yr Damn, it is Bill Robinsons fault that our pitching sucked ass tonight 792307 ooh oooh... how about our defense! 792319 I forgot about that. Let's just fire Perry Hill as well
June 2, 200519 yr Damn, it is Bill Robinsons fault that our pitching sucked ass tonight 792307 It's his fault we have such a bulls*** offense this far into the season. Look at the score we only have 1 run and 6 damn hits (all singles). I started this thread before we starting getting are brains bashed in. I'm sick of the idiocy the FO has shown when it comes to this situation.
June 2, 200519 yr I'm surprised at your post Moneyball. Your opinion is normally a good reasoned one. Do you really blame this team funk on a coach? These are professional ballplayers. The teams in a batting funk. To blame it on a coach is ridiculous. To expect a different coach to be THE DIFFERECE is crazy. How about the pitching, which has generally been excellent so far this season. Is this because the pitchers overall have talent and are healthy, or is it because Wiley is a pitching coach genius? Your premise of blaming Coach Robinson for a team funk is as absurd as saying Wiley is a genius for turning a humdrum bunch of pitchers into one of the best staffs in baseball. Overall, coaching aside, the pitching on the team is fine. The hitting is questionable. But the answer is not to fire the coach.

But I think he is getting too much blame from you and others. Look at the players that are struggling, they are all VETS. How come they did well under Robinson on previous years?
June 2, 200519 yr Does anybody know how to get in contact with Loria? Because someone has got to tell him fire Bill Robinson, and I mean Now! before its too late and were in last place.
June 2, 200519 yr People this thread isn't only about the recent slump or tonight's game. I'm talking about the whole two months this team has played this year plus last year. This offense has not performed like it is supposed to long enough, I've had it. At some point someone is gonna have to get the blame for this. I just can't believe how long this idiot has been kept incharge of guiding our hitters. I'm surprised at your post Moneyball. Your opinion is normally a good reasoned one. Hey, managers are fired all the time because of a team's lack of performance why can't it be the same for hitting and pitching coaches? Look at Toronto, they fired their hitting coach early on and that offense has picked it up a ton. We fired Arnsberg and look at how the pitching improved 2003.
June 2, 200519 yr Lowell is barely batting .200 with disgusting 2 HR. His hit today was a lucky blooper. It seems like he's been slumping since the latter part of last season. Pierre is batting .260, 'nuff said Paul LoDuca was 0 for 24 coming into today's game. You can bash me all you want, but I think it's about time he gets the boot.
June 2, 200519 yr See .. http://www.marlinbaseball.com/forums/index...showtopic=43783 And probably another 15 threads out there.
June 2, 200519 yr I wonder what you guys would say if we fired him and the team kept slumping I really do, because I think it's very likely
June 2, 200519 yr Look at Toronto, they fired their hitting coach early on and that offense has picked it up a ton. 792401 First 20 games (Before firing the coach): .270 BA 4.75 runs a game Last 32 games (After firing hitting coach) .273 BA 5 runs a game Yes a TON. (+.003 in BA and maybe 1 or 2 runs mroe a week) :plain It doesn't have anything to do with the fact in the first 20 games of the year they played Bos/NYY/Bal/Oak for 13 of their first 20 games. And since they have played those teams 9 times out of 32 games. I would love to hear how you spin .25 runs on average better as a TON of difference.... so please do.

June 2, 200519 yr I know Dawson and Perez are "special assistants"....I wonder if they ever give tips to hitters before games or whatever- I know Dawson helped Cabs in his transition to the OF.

From what I've heard some of the veteran hitters like Wells and some other guy pushed for the firing because of his crappy coaching technique. You might wanna check some of the offensive stats for the Blue Jays for last September too.
